My 2022 ram 2500 came with 275/70 r18 tires. A friend of mine suggested I should get wider tires for my truck. With my other truck I have got wider / taller tires and I noticed the difference in the performance of the engine such as RPMs & mph. I'm only looking at possibly getting wider tires rather than taller to avoid any changes in performance. I looked up 295/70 tires and it had a section on the page where you can type in your truck type to see if these tires fit my vehicle. After typing in my information it kicks back a message stating these tires will not fit my truck! It is the manufacturers recommendation to run 275/70r18. I want to give the truck a new look and my stock tires are worn out after 30,000 miles. I've read that you can upgrade the tire size on my 2500 5th generation truck, but the manufacturer is recommending to keep the 275/70 stock size. I understand that keeping the truck stock is going to help the performance of the vehicle but I wanted to upgrade tires to a wider tire as well as possibly a 10 ply and I'm not sure if there's a reason for the manufacturers recommendation other than keeping it stock for common performance. I'm sure when I go to a tire dealership they will have their own recommendations but since we're all helping each other out with the answers to our questions and concerns regarding our vehicle's, I'm asking for some educated advice regarding the manufacturers suggestions and if a 10 ply 295/70 R18 is a good choice for tire upgrades. Thanks in advance.1000000874.png1000000873.png

If you are predominantly on the highway, look at the Michelin Defender LTX M/S E-Range (10-ply) tires in oversized, sizing for the stock rim.

Exceptional wear and road handling characteristics, especially on wet roads, and they take very little weight to balance out. Quiet, too. Plus the Michelin warranty is excellent, too.

Ensure you go to a shop that does Road Force Balancing. Worth the extra dollars for this type of balancing.

You'll be advised that your speedo will be off a bit with a larger tire... not a big deal at all ;)

Why the interest in 10-ply tires, are you towing or carrying lots of extra weight?

Any 10-ply tire will be heavier, impacting MPG and will cost more money.

A second vote for the Michelin LTX M/S or Michelin Defender, not much difference between the two. Quiet and spectacular traction in wet conditions, as previously mentioned.

Check this online tire comparison site to see the sizes of circumferences and widths on different-sized tires. If you compare 295/70/18s to 275/70/18s, you will see a 3.3% increase in the circumference with only a 2 mph error at 60 mph.

Most DOT standards allow for anything within 4%, so this would be legal. I'm not sure if 295s will rub with full travel of steering, I've heard 285s clear.

285's and 295's will clear on a HD due to them being lifted already, per se.

I had 285 KO2's on my stock 1500 suspension and it was close, but still didn't rub.
When I put the 295's on with the 5100's and the fronts raised to 2.1" there was no rubbing either.
