I am quite shocked that my 2018 2500's rear tires are already worn to the point of needed a new set. The truck only has 16,000 miles on it. Damn.

Mid-line at best ... And OEM supplied tires tend to be on the softer side, because 65% of new car buyers replace with same as factory ... Fortunately, we are much smarter than that nonsense on this forum !!!!

Yes, they are the Firestone Transforce AT's. HA....no lead foot here at all. I have my hot rods for that! I do some towing of a camper...but only like 5 times. What tires do you guys recommend for a decent ride and good for towing?

Everyone's got their preference on tires ask 100 people you'll get 101 opinions. I've been using Continental TerrainContact and find that they are more stable towing than the Cooper STMAXX they replaced, no squirm at all so turning and braking with a load is positive and immediate. Wear has been good so far but I only have about 1500 miles towing out of 11000 miles driving on them, mostly highway but some Arizona/Utah off-road too and a little Washington snow.

I find it odd when I see these posts. I have a 2018 2500 4x4 crew 6.4L hemi. We tow a 8000# TT a few times a year, several hundred miles each time.

I am at 32k miles and still have plenty of tread on my transforce a/t. I’ve only rotated them once, I set the pressure at 65 front and 50 rear except for when I tow. I’m hoping to get 50k out of them.

Not surprised. Like rhere are pple who've run the stock goodyear sras on their 1500s successfully and would buy them again when the first set wears out, but the way I see it, there's lots of options out there, too many reports of failures too ignore and I don't need the worry. My last set of tires on my tacoma gave me anxiety for months and its worth the price to have my personal choice of tires on my truck instead of SRAs.

Never really though of that. How often should you rotate?

LOL I don't know if you are serious or kidding around????? :)

Most tire places rec. every 5-6000 miles max - basically every oil change or so depending on how often you change you oil - I personally do not go over 5000 miles on oil changes - but I want the truck to last a long time and will not be trading in for a decade or more.

I also change oil every 5. Wise move! As far as tires go....obviously you would not rotate the worn tires to the front!

I hate rotating tires and really don't on my other car.
However with 4X4 it is a necessity to try to keep the tread depth close at least - esp. as I have the 44-45 transfer case and tend to go into 4WD are higher speed.

LOL yeah your tires are way past rotating, I was just wondering if you had rotated them at all since you said you weren't burning them off at stop lights.

If you were running those Transforce tires at the FCA recommended pressures I'm not surprised at all.

My first set, on my 2014 2500 Big Horn, were gone in less that 12K miles. They sucked in wet conditions, it felt like I had hockey pucks mounted and they bounced like a two dollar *****.

My second set, on my 2017 2500, lasted one (1) day. I put the 18x9 wheels with 35x12.50R18's on it that came off the 2014.
