Just looking for some insight or wisdom on if I should or shouldn’t mod my 2014 ram cc. As of now all I have done is a cai and a canned tune. Trying to see if it’s worth it to throw money into it or just trade in for a ram with an 8speed and mod the new truck. My truck sits with an open diff and 3.55 gears. Not planning on turbo or supercharger, just bolt on mods. Any advise would b greatly appreciated.

IMHO it all depends on how you use your truck. You can continue to add mods to your present truck, ie, custom tune, long tube headers, 6.4 truck intake, lower gears with a tru trac etc etc etc----If you go this route sooner or later you're going to begin to have problems with your trans. It has a well-deserved reputation as being the weak link. Your idea of trading your truck for a newer model with an 8-speed sounds like a good idea to me. You can then add the same type of mods and you'll be a lot happier with the longevity of the trans. The 8 speed will take lots more abuse.

I thought 2014 1500's were 8 speed transmissions ?
The 6 speed was still used all the way up to 20 in Canada, and i think was still used to 17 in the US trucks

Because 4.10s have greater mechanical advantage over 3.55s, in theory, 4.10s should aid in the longevity of the 545/645 by lightening the load of the transmission.

Interesting, all this time I was under the impression that 2013 was the last year for the 6 speed in the 1500's.

I’m in the same boat as you, 2011 ram 5.7 with the 5/6 speed with 3.55s open diff. After I throw the cam and ported heads on I’m probably going to start taking a serious look at the 8speed swap and front diff swap.

2017 was the last year the 6 speed came standard for the SXT in Canada, with 2020 being last year fleet buyers could order.

2016 was the last year the 6 speed was an option for Express and Tradesman in the US, with 2017 being the last year fleet buyers could order it as an option however 2019 was the final year they could order the SSV which had the 6 speed.

A couple years ago Airdrie Dodge had 3 black out Express regular cab shortbox 2018's all with the 6 speed, and i've seen a couple 2019 quad cabs with the 6 speed, that i know weren't fleet trucks
