I have a 2011 Ram Laramie Quad Cab. I purchased a hard tri-fold tonneau cover engineered for this truck. During installation, I initially thought I had a bad cover, as the cover would not fill the gap at the head of the truck bed. I decided to measure the bed, and the inside width of the bed nearest the tailgate is 62" (the cover fits fine at this end) and the inside dimension of the bed nearest the cab is 65 1/2". A difference of over 3"!

I am confused as to how my bed became so misaligned. At this point, it appears I will not be able to install any hardcover on my pickup.

Has anyone else come across this issue or do you have a suggestion on how to accommodate the difference?

Thank you,

Andy

Is it out the same amount at the top and bottom?

Do you have pictures from the tailgate looking towards the cab?

The view from the back looking toward the cab appears normal. The width at the tailgate appears normal, as the cover fits at that location. The bed width at the cab is 3 inches wider. I'll try to attach pics.

That's normal on a 4th Gen. If you take a tape measure to a neighbours truck, you'll find it the same. They all taper in towards the back by roughly 3".If you stand back a bit and look at the top of the box, you'll see the taper.Another one that might surprise you,is take a tape to the motor, and you'll find it's offset to the pass side by a couple inches. That's why the pass side footwell is smaller then the drivers side footwell.

My 2011 is the same. Bed at top is wider at the front , that’s why my soft cover cross bars are all a different length. They have to go in as numbered. For soft cover I like it because it doesn’t use vel cro on the sides, has plastic strip sewn into edge that goes in groove on side rails. If mfg can plan a soft cover for this not sure how hard cover would be done .

Yea. The bed is definitely tapered out. If you look at the second picture you can tell that rolled up it’s going in.
