Tow Capacity

I have a 2021 Ram Limited Air Ride SB 5.7 eTorque 3:21 rear. When I access the chart for trailer tow capacity it shows 8200 lbs, but the literature shows 12750 lbs....what is it?

Likely closer to the 8200. No way it is 12,000, especially with the 3.21's. My step-son had a 2019 (5.7 not e-torque) and his tow capacity was about 8200lbs. 8200lbs will work that engine though and you will likely face payload limit issues depending on the type of trailer

You also own just about the heaviest 1500 out there, depending on 4x4 or not. I've seen payloads on some Limited's under 1000 pounds

My 17 Bighorn had a 8300 lb limit but like the quote says, I ran out of payload with an almost empty TT.

The literature doesn't show you have 12K pounds, you're reading it wrong. For the 3.21 it's either 8240 or 8150 depending on your equipment. Since you have etorque, that further limits you to 8150.

yes the limiting factor on the ram 1500's for towing is lack of cargo capacity. my '19 laramie only has 1324# cargo cap and many are closer to 1000#. subtract passengers and gear and that leaves how much tongue wt. of trailer you can hook on the back and from that you can figure what wt. of trailer. my 28' travel trailer is right around 6000# and I wouldnt go much bigger than that myself. I think 7000# would be the max if you dont tow in the mountains. pretty much all the competitors can carry more cargo because they have leaf springs but it's hard to beat the pulling power of the 5.7/8 speed trans. combo. night and day better than the '17 sierra I had but it would carry over 300# more wt.

Put your vin in the ramtrucks website. That will give you towing and payload.
as everyone stated you will run out of payload fast in a 1500 limited.

Our payload is limited due our options, hence the reason we chose a relatively light TT with a GVWR of 6500 lbs.
