Tow Mirror Painting

Ok, I've searched and have only found the entire tow mirror assembly painted. My question is, can the mirror cap be taken off like on the regular mirrors? I just want to paint the covers and not the entire assembly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know the answer to your question, but thinking about it, it should be pretty easy to mask off the areas you don't want to paint - you could paint the whole thing in PlastiDip (use a bright color) then just peel off where you want to color match?

Or just use tape.
