Update....so I picked up my new trailer yesterday, I went from Long Island to Pennsylvania 250 miles one way. The new trailer is about 1200 lbs heavier. Overall my average was 11.2 which is not bad for a Pentastar 1500. I did notice when I was driving through the mountains of PA that if I dropped my speed to 60-61 instead of 64-65 my MPG noticed a nice improvement.

You'll find out it's the wind load that really eats at the fuel economy, not so much the weight. I pull a 24' enclosed car hauler that when empty is about the same 3K lbs as my boat. I get close to 20 mpg with the boat, the trailer around 16 mpg unless it's windy then I'm around 13mpg. What drives it home that it's the wind load, when I have the 28' enclosed that tops over 8K lbs I'll be in the 14-15 mpg range(gotta love a EcoD for towing).
