I have know idea what the life span is on the sensors. But the way fca makes changes every couple of years there really is no way that the batteries could be bad already. I bought the most current pn sensors for my 2018.

I just had my first sensor go out. It’s a 2012 Ram 1500. I took it to my tire guy at America’s Tire/Discount tire and he tried to re-set it but it didn’t work. He said the battery went out. $60 for a new one.

You may be able to take it to a tire shop and they can try and take the scanner to it. If it a good shop, they won’t charge you. It takes them all of 3mins.

Disconnected the battery for about 40 minutes today and nothing changed. I did order the obdlink mx +, security bypass cable, a kindle fire and as soon as everything gets her will get the alphaobd program so I can change a few things but also change/program sensors in the future if needed. Going to see if a local shop can get the Id's off the sensors if not will take it to the dealer have them get it squared away for now.

Quick update, took it into the dealer to have them activate the sensors. They could only get the truck to read 3 out of the 4 but were able to read the sensor ID on the 4th. So I had them write down all 4 sensor Id's. My security bypass cable will be delivered today and as soon as I can will see if I can manually add the sensor through alphaobd. I see people are having issues with the update for alphaobd. I used a old android phone to login and turn off automatic updates so hopefully my tablet won't automatically update alphaobd when I turn it on. If I can't add it manually I'll pick up another sensor to replace it.

Tried using alphaobd to learn the sensor I'm having issues with and it appears that it's dead or doesn’t have enough power to be read by the truck. Having it replaced next week

Appears that the sensor was bad. Had a new one installed and no more service tpms message.

You were able to manually load the sensors using your alfaOBD? Steps please.

How do you manually program them individually with the alfa obd?

This sensor rolls test option, does one select it, unplug alphaobd and go for a drive? Or does alphaobd have to stay locked up?

Edit: factory tpms sensors learned the following day so no roll test needed!

Sorry for revivng the old thread, but... has anyone had any luck with reprogramming sensor ids with AlfaOBD? I have a 2014 1500 longhorn with two sets of wheels for winter and summer. Winter rims were the ones that came with the truck and worked fine. This spring I purchased another set of rims and used them for summer tires, however the sensors do not seem to work.

Here's what I've seen in the RF-HUB configuration, regarding the sensor ids:

1. "Working" sensors
Number Of TPMS Sensors:
4
Left Front Tire Sensor ID: 01915195
Right Front Tire Sensor ID: 015160203
Right Rear Tire Sensor ID: 01917428
Left Rear Tire Sensor ID: 06020584

All but one sensor are identified by 8 digits, and FR is somewhy 9 digits...

2. I've got the tire shop to read all four sensors and program new sensors' ids into the system, but still no pressure displayed. Here's what I've seen after this procedure:
Number Of TPMS Sensors:
4
Left Front Tire Sensor ID: 03321548
Right Front Tire Sensor ID: 033226117
Right Rear Tire Sensor ID: 03321852
Left Rear Tire Sensor ID: 03321795

Notice that three ids have 8 digits (as should), but FR id has 9 digits, which looks weird.

3. So I thought I can be smart and just re-enter the ID's using the AlfaOBD routine. I went and tried to put in all four sensor id sequentially:
03321548 as FL
03322611 as FR (just dropped the last digit for the sake of testing)
03321852 as RR
03321795 as RL

Each time I entered the ID and started the procedure, it looked like the BCM was reset. Here's what I see in the config after my actions:
Number Of TPMS Sensors:
4
Left Front Tire Sensor ID: 3502172
Right Front Tire Sensor ID: 3503817
Right Rear Tire Sensor ID: 3502482
Left Rear Tire Sensor ID: 35023149
Something has clearly gone very wrong here.

So I'd really appreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Answering myself a little, but anyway. It looks like my second set of sensors is incompatible with the truck, as they are perfectly well read by the Autel tool, but fail to show up during rolls test routine, when the TMPS is supposed to pick them up.

After some time TPMS switches itself into "Winter mode" and stops looking for sensors.

I guess I'll have to replace them with the same p/n that is installed on the first set of wheels, and then it would magically self-learn.
