Ok guys I've been working with my differential for two days swapping to the 4.56's and replacing the clutches in my 9.25. I ran into a kink today that kinda stopped me. When I removed my spider gears, the two shims fell out which was fine I knew they were in there, but after replacing the clutch packs, the side gears, are so freakin tight against the gear cup/socket, that I can't slide those shims back between the carrier and the side gears. My question is: is there more than one size clutch pack? I'm thinking that maybe the one I have is too big and squeezing the axle gears up, putting the side gears in a bind. Anyone do this or have any input?
(Picture is of the side gears I mentioned, not my actual differential.)

No diff thickness shims, it's all in how you assy it.

Have a look in the fsm it shows you what tool you need to do this part of the job.

Thanks merc I found it in the service manual, looks like I have to compress those clutches to get the shims in there.
