Trailer breakaway switch

Just because this is pertinent to the conversation. This is what happens if you don't realize you accidentally pulled the breakaway out while driving in time.
New brakes, new bearings, sometimes a new axle. That mess of wires on the bottom used to be the magnet that activates the brakes.
This was on a gooseneck horse trailer, he had a generator in the truck bed and it rolled forward pulling out the breakaway cable on the highway.

Hopefully none of us will never have that scenario!

INDEED! Though I remember it happening once on a hunting trip with my dad, though it was with his friend's home-built trailer, so no brakes or breakaway (it was only about 10 ft long)...THAT was scary.

They test it at the annual state inspection. Works for me.
