When spec'ing out a new truck with 5.7L, you're given 2 choices for the 8HP70 transmission, one order code is DFK and the other is DFD Anyone know difference between the 2? Website doesn't break it down, just that both are 8HP70 transmissions. Mine is coming with DFD trans and just curious if should have asked for the DFK one.

TIA

I doubt there is any 1500s rolling out of Saltillo Mexico any time soon, the HD production is backed up for months.

It's possible there's two variants of the 8HP70 and the difference being first and second gear. One has a 4.69 first gear the other 4.71, the second gear difference is even less. In the grand scheme of things you won't notice a difference between the two.

I had one in my 2014 (V6) and had loads of problems with it.. multiple re-learns, valve body swaps... finally took a friend at a transmission supplier to Mopar to contact the head of transmissions at Mopar to get it replaced with a new unit.

Didn't say no one had issues, but it's a low percentage.

Don't quote me on this,but i thought the 8HP70 had the 4.71:1 first gear,and the 8HP75 in the 5th Gens has the 4.69:1 first gear.The 70 has a torque rating of 516 lb-ft,while the 75 has a torque rating of 553 lb-ft to handle the e-torque better,at least that's my understanding of the transmissions,but i've been wrong before,lol
