SO Guys my question is I HAVE THE VERY 1ST 1989 DODGE DIESEL D2500 pick up sold at a local dealership . The Auto 727 trans is bad . Doesn't want to move much . & Leaks even worse . SO I Have a 1988 & a 1991 Gss 727 AUTO Trans, that I could put in my Diesel truck . DO YOU KNOW IF THERE IS A DIFFERENCE IN THE DIESEL TRANS & THE GAS TRANS ... My gas trans don't have to be extra good just work . I'll not put 300 miles on this pickup in the next 3 years . I'll just play with it on the farm .. But I'd sure like for it to back out of my garage / shop.

bell housing is different so won't be a straight swap.

then there are a few internal bits that are also different but would be fine for tooling around the farm.

OK REEK ... YOUR SAYING THE bolt pattern that bolts to the back of the 5.2 block is different To what bolts up to the ADAPTER PLATE ON THE BACK OF THE DIESEL MOTOR.
& MAYBE THE shaft that FITS into the crank pilot bushing . Possible different .
Or can I pull my GUTS OUT of my gas Trans & put them into the Diesel trans case.
I guess I now asking can I restack my used gas parts into my DIESEL CASE.
BUT OF COURSE if you pulled you parts from the Gas Trans . I'll want new sealing rings or lip rings & several new seals .
