I bought a 2021 ram 2500 4x4 tradesmen.
It has the 4x4 lever on the floor not push button. When i put the truck in gear the shifter lever moves forward a bit also in reverse.
The truck only has 14000 miles is this normal for this.

Yes the transfer case will move around and the the shift lever is directly attached via linkage. The engine and transmission mounts are rubber so they move around to lessen vibrations, the transfer case is bolted directly to the transmission.

Perfectly normal. My truck has begun squeaking from this motion. Drives me nuts.

This thread makes me wish I had gotten the manual shifter. The scroll of the knob shifter
is without character.

Ha. First time I have heard it put that way. Have had two GM switches fail. Never a manual floor shift Jeep. I know off brand but something to say about manual engagement. The CAD, that’s another story.

Just wait until you hammer the throttle and get the rear end shaking as you are reaching down to put it back into 2wd...Your whole arm will shake

They could have used a cable arrangement and eliminated the shifter shaking. They did that for the fuel pedals on class 8 trucks when they came out with air ride cabs. Before they figured it out the trucks would start jumping and jerking from the solid linkage. Quite the rodeo on rough ground.
