Yes Im slowly learning a lot of the switches we think are switches are just black boxes (see: ignition key switch, ignition push button, etc)

Makes sense.....use the same mounting and case with just a different PCB inside, just like the button plate for heated seats, park assist on/off, etc.

So they're basically more of a module than a switch?

Yep. Like the ignition key or button, just a black plastic box that mounts up with 4 screws. Same exact connector, just different innards.

Im sure somehow it saves FCA money on top of increasing service revenue (because replacement is easier than refurbishment)

That would make sense. If it's just a pcb board canbus can just measure resistance when button is pushed and the pcm/bc. module holds that command until pressed again or another command is pressed. That's why when traction control is pressed once it turns it off and when it's held it shuts it completely off. Or that's how my brain understands it anyways.

I know! I was really looking forward to having a "lock" switch there...
Could still use the stick on one there? Not as clean but still functional.

If you have the useless square cubby on your dashboard, this might make a good use for it. Mount the switch in there, or even under the little rubber mat to hide it.

If I didn't have switches in my console I'd have put mine right below the selector on the console.

Yeah like what is the use for that cubby? I don't have anything that will fit or stay in there with my driving for that matter.

It's like the designers had 1.2 cubic inches left over and they were like "eh make a little storage spot that no one will ever use"

Just need someone to 3d print a plate that snaps into it, then mount your switch.

I'd like to get a 3d printer but I can't afford that.

Hey @Brandon-w did I see a post of yours a while back that showed a pic of your switch in the access panel on the side of the console?
