Borg Warner makes good stuff, after seeing all the videos and all of the complaints (and praises) of the xfer case, I have to believe its crappy programming on FCAs part.
Ford uses a variation of the 44-44 and everyone loves it there.
I know there are manufacturing tolerances involved (not a whole lot, per the service manual, but I imagine one or two could add up) so engagement might be delayed on some vs. others, but it just doesnt seem like the programming matches the xfer case at all. If thats the case, FCA could actually fix it, IF THEY WANTED TO.
@Brandon-w Honestly I think the price might be a bit high, but I don;t know your costs, I dont know shipping from CA to US and most of all Im a cheap ass
The biggest question I have is if the encoder motor will burn up with 12V constant applied to it. I think only time will tell (a month of Canadian use is probably a decent test!)
