I have right over 75000 miles. Today going about 40 mph in rolling traffic my trans felt like it shifted down and the back up pretty hard about 3 or 4 times over a span of 3 or 4 miles. I think it was 4th and 5th gear . It was in tow haul mode. I was just cruising, not slowing down or speeding up.

Temps were normal at 168. I turned off tow haul and locked it in 4th and it was fine for another 30 minutes of driving.

I have the solenoid recall I need to get fixed. One time it did something similar and went into limp mode but this time it didn't. I'm about to drive 50 miles home and see how it does.

Get the recall fixed! This isn't one to ignore.
I had mine fail on a cross country trip towing a 20ft enclosed trailer full of my household valuables, Not a fun day!
This was prior to the recall (and probably a reason it was started)
Mine did not act like yours. It was running fine, pull off the highway to fuel up and couldn't move the truck after I did. Was stuck in limp mode, 4th gear, so going no where with a heavy trailer in tow.

When mine went into limp mode that one time I pulled over and cut the truck off for a minute and it was fine after that. It was about 6 months ago. I've had some hard shifts from 6th to 5th when running around 70 but this is the first real issue I've had since then.

I use my truck for work and pull a dump trailer frequently. I have to get this taken care of I sure would hate to end up like you. I actually called a few weeks ago and they never called back. I want to do the recall and new fluid/ filter at the same time.

Mine was doing the same. Took it into shop June 17th. Service writer said there were metal shavings in the pan when they took it apart. As late as July 8th my service writer said you will get a ne tranny, never seen one this bad not get replaced. It needed a new transmission. Chrysler said no, rebuild the one in the truck. Well as of this weekend, my truck has been in the shop 11 weeks. No end in sight. I got in contact with RamCares and have been assigned a case specialist. That has been about a useful as tits on a boar hog.

So, they've had my truck for near 3 months. Told me I need a new tranny. Tried to and failed to rebuild my current tranny twice but the parts swapper is not capable and I'm supposed to trust this POS.

To say the least, I'm pissed.

I'm out of warranty so I will have to have my local guy swap it out or repair it if it comes to that.

For the gas trucks it was this.... "2016 through 2017 model year RAM Trucks equipped with a 65/66 RFE Transmission."
