Today I ended up picking up a new torque wrench in inch/pounds for another project (daughter bent crankshaft on the mower). So... since I had my new wrench I had to test it out. My truck (1995 4x4, 5.9L) has been having problems shifting from 2nd to 3rd. It would just run up to three grand and sit there. To get it to shift I would have to bobble the gas to motivate it to shift.

Today I went ahead and changed the transmission fluid, filter and adjusted the bands. Needless to say the project worked out great! The truck now shifts with no problem. What was depressing is that the truck is 19 years old with 220,000 miles and this is the first time the transmission has ever been opened. The magnet was covered with 1/4" of powder but everything else looked good, and the old fluid was not burned.

Overall it was a good day for the Ram.

Got that - just didn't know if there was a How To thread with pics or helpful hints, & etc.

I didn't see one for header install either, so I'll be making one. :)

The filters usually come with a pan gasket, yes.
