I thought I read somewhere that some 2024 Rams are getting delivered with the transmission fluid low. Causing a jerking at low speeds. I can't find that post. Had the oil changed at the dealer last week, mention that and was told "That's normal" (typical went don't want to look into it) Any input?

Thanks

Dont know how anyone would know that any 2024 ram would be low on fluid when theres no reason to check it's level or even change the fluid. Plus it would have to be so low that it is actually starving the valve body for it to be an issue

Do the 2024 models still use the ZF 8spd? If so it shouldn’t be jerky at all. If they are using a different transmission I can’t speak to it but the ZF 8spd’s are an extremely smooth transmission.

Haven't heard that one,but wouldn't be surprised. They're famous for shipping things out low on diff fluids, especially the cars,so they might even be doing it with the transmissions to.Hey 50 cents saved on every vehicle adds up,they need lots to pay for their Ceo's bonus's lol

The good news if you are a capable person you can do this yourself, I wouldnt even let anyone change my fluid if I had the zf. Newer vehicles are advanced ownership vehicles, it is what it is. Some of the Ford 10's you need to drop the transmission to change the fluid and filters. Follow the two part video series to a t, your level will be good to go. Is this even happening to you? They changed the tranny oil or just engine oil? TBH, you should do this anyway.

The important part is to level the transmission, you need the rear tires roughly 8/9" in the air to get the transmiision level.

The 8-spd transmission was 1.5Lt low in my new Warlock (late build 2023) that I bought at the end of this past February.

It just didn't feel right to me when I drove her, so I brought her in and voila, low fluid. They also updated the TCM to the latest file and my transmission was very happy afterward.

I also had the @caulk04 transmission bypass cooler valve upgrade installed at this time, too.

I'm friends with the Service Manager where I bought my truck, and he had his transmission tech install it for me, for a song ;)

A friend who just bought his new truck a few months ago also had low transmission fluid, too. His took just over a liter of fluid to top up.

IT DEPENDS….on which transmission you have installed. The 8-speed is a ZF and has no dipstick and uses a special fluid.

The 6-speed (68rfe) has a dipstick and uses ATF4 fluid, and the level is checked with the transmission Warm and Running at Idle in Neutral… after it has had all the selections operated (P, R, N, D,)

Then there is the AS69RC transmission which uses a special fluid of it’s own.

Know which transmission you have installed (check your build sheet at this site: https://fcagroup.my.site.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing )
….Read the Owners Manual.
