It’s always in the right gear. So far I’ve got 2k miles on my 2020 4x4 and have ZERO complaints.

Go drive one, but bring your check book.

My 2nd truck with the 8 speed tranny...
I think it's a great tranny...it's smooth and dependable

Coming from having three Cummins trucks in the past...

I had a 2017 1500 5.7 with the 8 speed and though it was a phenomenal transmission. Now I have a 2019 2500 6.4 and it’s even better. The 8 speed makes the truck into a great towing and performing machine. The 6 speeds are terrible by comparison.

Here's hoping the rumors of putting an 8 speed ZF in the 2022+ Cummins are true too.

We have a 2019 6.4 with the 8 that we pull a 6500lb camper with. If you put it in tow mode the truck forgets there is a load back there. It just goes. You have to watch your speed on the highway. I have a few complaints with this new ride but the 8 speed is not one of them.

Please explain on the complaints. I am looking at one in the next couple days.

My 6.4 1 Ton DRW hauls an Arctic Fox 990 camper. The transmission shifts quickly which is a bonus on windy forest roads where one must accelerate and decelerate because of tight turns. The truck and camper weigh in at about 12800 lbs as measured on a scale. I have a 3.73 axle. I have more than enough power.

3:73 to 4:10 is about a 200-250 rpm jump at 70 mph
And well worth it!
As soon as my checkbook gets big enough, I will be changing the 4.10s to either 4.88s or 5.13s but thats just me.
Lower gearing is the cheapest way to multiply torque and improve giddy-up.
It also slows me down a little on the highway. Those gears will put the 6.4 right in that sweet spot (2000 - 2300 RPMs) in 6th gear while towing, eliminating all the hunting up & down it does now.
Nobody ever didn't like lower gears that I'm aware of.

I have always regretted trading out my 2018 heavy duty with the 6.4 (had to because I fell off the roof and paralyzed my leg), but now I’m good. My only fault I had with the 6.4 then, was the 6 speed trans. For the new trucks with the 8 speed, how do you like it? Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!
Only had mine a month or so, but it's great tranny. Actually, one of the major selling points over the competitors. Made by ZF Friedrichshafen, same as my BMW daily driver.

I love my 6.4L with the 8SPD Tranny. Honestly, had Ford & Chevy and this is the best transmission I've ever had. I hope it lasts/holds up...

I'm heading over to the dealer to test drive a 2500 with 6.4 and 4.10 gears this afternoon, looking forward to seeing how it compares to my 2018 with the old 6 speed and 3.73 gears

Should be night and day if TFL testing is as accurate as it should be.

Mine is 6.4/4.10/8sp and it's a great combo. Unfortunately due to virus spreading causing event shutdowns I won't get the chance to really load it down this summer but next year I'm hoping for it.

i came from a 2012 ram 1500 5.7. So it had the 6 speed, it also had 3.55 gears.

So when i moved up to the PW, i thought it would be dreadfully slow. thing weighs like 8600Lbs.

But having the 4.10 gears, and that 8 speed transmission makes this thing get up and go! it obviously falls off up top because its like trying to push a house down the highway....

But for what this thing is, that 8 speed makes it "feel" pretty fast. Not to mention it shifts really smooth, and reacts pretty quickly to the right foot for a slush box.

I’m going to say the 6.4 with 8 speed towed my Car trailer like it wasn’t there. I have had issues with the transmission randomly shifting into neutral which has been an ongoing headache. However, I researched 2500 series trucks for about 2 1/2 months before I bought my ram. I talked to a few dealers down south that were very honest with me in explaining that my driving habits did not work well with the diesel, and might lead to issues. I can tell you that if I were offered another 6.4 with the 8 speed I would take it. I believe my truck was a Friday afternoon or Monday morning production. I wish I could say it goes a camper well, but it’s been in the shop long enough I have missed 2 planned camping trips.

I was very impressed with how it drove, so much better than my 2018 with the 6 speed! Dealer is going to work some numbers for me. I feel like it should have no trouble pulling a 7500 pound dry, travel trailer. 95% of my driving is in town short distance stuff, so a diesel probably isn't best for me

What color are you getting? I pull an 8900 pound trailer with ZERO issues. I went with the Tradesman CC 4x4 for the simplicity and 3100 pound payload.

If it works out, delmonico red.

Well, I pulled the trigger and bought it, so far I really, really love how it drives! The 8 speed really transforms the 6.4 and 4.10 gears really give excellent leverage. Couldn't be happier!
