i have a 03 2500 with a 5.7 automatic. My problem is when the truck shifts from 4th gear into overdrive. There is about a one second delay between gears. Is there anything I can do to get it to wind up in 4th gear a little before shifting into overdrive?

What you fail to realize is that 4th gear IS an overdrive gear. 545RFE has 3 gears (3rd being 1:1) during normal upshifting, then 4th and 5th are OD gears.
1st: 3.00
2nd: 1.67
2nd prime 1.50
3rd: 1.00
4th: 0.75
5th: 0.67
The TCM is programmed to get you into 5th as quickly as possibly (CAFE standards) in the name of fuel economy unless you're at WOT. So once you hit 4th it will already be on its way into 5th and then TC lockup. Unfortunately, because it's a 2003 you can't change the programming.

Why did you post this twice within the same subforum? Admin, can someone combine these for him?
