transmission slip

'03 Ram with Cummins and Auto trans..., if it sits for a few days it takes a short time for the trans to become engaged after startup. Is there a check valve or something that I should look for or is the trans ready to go?

Did you ever figure out your trans problem? I have an 04 Ram 3500 5.9 Cummins and 4 spd automatic and it gets lost in 1st gear.Very aggravating when trying to pull out into traffic. It will slip and then when accelerating will suddenly grab hold and do a burnout. It has been doing this since I had it rebuilt. I don't want to take it back to the transmission shop for the 4th time.
