I have 2021 2500 Ram with 8’ bed, 4WD and 6.4L engine. I installed a 2700# hard side TC and the truck and camper seem to be a bit top heavy and gives me more “roll” than I think it should. I have installed Firestone airbags and am wondering about replacing the rear sway bar. Is it worth it and will it help with the “roll” i am experiencing? Hellwig vs Roadmaster….?? Thoughts and input appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!

What is your trucks payload capacity? 2700lb camper sure is a lot of weight and is definitely bringing your center of gravity higher which is increasing your rolling feeling. Has to be pretty close to max payload or over when you add in any passengers and extra equipment.

Payload of that truck could be 3080 lbs depending on axle ratio and trim level. I would not consider a 2700 lb hard slide truck camper unless I had a 1 ton dually. However, a good option for a 2500 is a soft side truck camper like a Palomino which weighs anywhere from 1300 lbs to 1800 lbs which would be more inline for hauling w a 3/4 ton Ram 2500

The GVWR on the truck is 10,000# and I am right at that. I ran it across a scales loaded with 2 full LP tanks, 30 gal of water, camper stocked and 2 passengers. Yes, I am very close to the GVWR but not over.

The weight I listed on the hard side is the weight loaded! It is only 2170# MT.

GO to this URL and put in all the particulars and it will list the exact payload and towing your truck configured for: I would do a generic for you but not know all the particulars:

I put a 1300# FWC camper (dry) on a 3500 and am in the process of adding a Helwig bar on the rear. Palomino is junk. Get an ATC or FWC if popup is desired.

Stock rear leaf springs and no rear sway bay was stock on our 2021 crew cab 4wd 3500 SWD. I've got a Big Wig sway bar from Hellwig to install soon. I'm not done getting the right kit, but customer service has been very good. Talk to Kevin.

Hellwig does not have a kit for 2019+ RAM hemi. After looking at the Hellwig they thought would fit, it was obvious it does not work. There's issues with the brakes lines on the back of the axle, and clearance to the muffler per their tech. I'm still looking, and have an inquiry with Roadmaster whether they have a rear sway bar that works with the 5th gen RAM 6.4 hemi.

From website, but unknown ref 4th vs 5th Gen. I have an email in to tech Support at Hellwig. Also wonder if 6.4 vs 5.7 ie., 2500/1500 years.
