Sooo, I'm about 3 seconds from ordering a Whipple SuperCharger for My 2015 Express RCSB.

Question: On Whipples home page is says that PCMs must be "purchased or unlocked" from SCT Tuners. I already have an unlocked PCM from Moes.
Does it make a difference who unlocks it? Will the SCT tune from Whipple work on My already unlocked PCM?

I would call them and speak to someone. When i was looking i saw the same thing but think if you call and let them know im sure they will have a solution.

No, I was back and forth with ProCharger yesterday. I may go that route instead, so I can just keep the one tuning platform that I already have.

Yea, not sure about Whipple, but my unlocked PCM for my Procharger was from DiabloSport and you have to work with procharger for tuning in that case...

Unlocked ECM is an Unlocked Ecm.

I have owned 3 Magnachargers previous on my GM trucks, now own a Procharged Ram. First and last Centri blower i'll buy for a truck. I knew going into it the downside to a centri blower, but i wanted to try one and experience it. For my driving style, power between 2-5000rpm the Roots blower was much more enjoyable. I wouldn't let tuning sway your decision.

However...the prochargers are cheaper. I was able to buy a D1SC kit, upgraded to all black head unit and brackets for almost 2000$ cheaper then any whipple or TVS kit...

Not to steal the thread here. I'm just curious as I've been researching superchargers. What makes you say that about the centrifugal supercharger?

I spoke to Matt at Moes, and he walked Me through all that....

Question: How did Your tuning experience go?

I went with the Pro Charger and had it tuned locally here in Hawaii and I have the Diablo tuner with no problem. All done on the dyno and adjusted with no check engine lights even with long lube headers. Yes the whipple will make power at a lower RPM but a power increase with RPM less wheel spin and the Pro Charger will give you more power with less boost numbers and that will put less strain on the engine itself. Hey, just my opinion and my experience.

If you already have a diablo or hp tuner, you can get the whipple tuned with that. You dont need to use SCT basic, probably crappy tune

Was definitely shaky at first. You find alot of people with "Vehicle not supported" issues when trying to remove Stock tune. Once i got ahold of diablo, a tech took over my computer and added my vin to a file and it worked. Annoying part was it happened on a Thursday, and they were closed Friday for a company event, sat, Sunday, and Monday for a holiday.

Once that was fixed, it worked as intended. From what i can tell, the issue is the tuners require a vin specific code to get it to work for alot of guys.

Exactly as i stated, the power band is much higher and not really in the day to day usable power band i drive in. This truck is just my daily, so low end meat is much more usable.

Also, the truck requires Air-Air intercooler, which means a lot more piping. Which results in a crowded engine compartment. The Maggies use a air to water, which is a smaller intercooler and only 3/4" hoses, not the 3-4" hoses on a turbo/centri kit.

Again...I have owned both, its just my opinion. Im not unhappy with the procharger, i knew what i was buying, but for my application i would rather have a roots blower.

Exactly the answer I was looking for. I've been stuck between the 2 as I'm not very knowledgeable about either. Is looking at it now I'm better off with the roots style. Thank you.
