It's simple, everyone wants to get you locked in or even better on some monthly subscription. Look at the high end uconnect, if you want to upgrade to aftermarket you'd lose your a/c controls. If this gets bad enough you'll likely start to see reverse engineered aftermarket replacements being more common.

Why do they (fiat) have to be ***** like this? Don't they see that a lot of us buy these things SO THAT WE CAN mod them??? Why lock the **** down so tight?

I had a customer with a 2015 Ram call last week that owned a Shelby mustang. He said that some of the newer Fords are having to go through this as well. I don't know anything about Ford, so that was just 2nd hand from him. Sounds like it isn't just Ram/Dodge doing this.

Hopefully sending your own ECU away and getting it bootloaded is a quick and cost effective method to getting tunes on the 2015's...

Likely an excuse for them to deny warranty claims of all sorts. It's one thing to root your phone, a motor vehicle ECU is much more complicated and has the potential to destroy your engine/trans probably a bunch of other things.

Probably better having a secondary ECU to tune for just that reason... but wow, the cost compared to simply buying a Trinity for a 2014 and older model... unreal

I agree... at this point it will probably deter me from tuning my truck, which I was anxiously awaiting doing but with 45,000 other priorities daily I can't justify $1200 just for a damn tune! :throw:

They are juggling IP, warranty, and governmental back lash from recalls. I I agine there is some nerdy egotistical engineers thrown in for good measure. As for the exhaust, you have to give those guys a pat on the back. My 2015 exhaust was engineered superbly to start with, and on top of that it came off like it was just waiting for me to upgrade it. Trust me it's not all the same engineers doing stuff on the truck, that's evident.

The biggest reason for me was being able to disable traction/stability. First time I tried to swing it in the rain the abs kicked in and started pulsing the brakes. I do not want that going on when there is snow/ice on the road.

Losing tq management, firmer shifts, and more power are just bonuses at that point.
