If there were no problems with the OEM turbos there would not be such a large market with companies producing turbos for owners of Ford, Chevy, and Ram engines. I doubt many people appreciate that a Cummins engine that goes into a pickup truck is a completely different engine than the ones that go into a Freightliner and there is in no way comparable reliability or durability.
Oh Good Lord, don't tell Cummins that.
The ISB engine is made in only place, Columbus, Indiana, and goes into everything from RAM's to school buses, delivery box trucks, marine, etc.
I haven't a clue what makes you think RAM's ISB engine is completely different. They do come with different power ratings, optional configurations, and colors but it is the same engine.
You could read this and if this doesn't change your mind, head over to the plant and get a tour and ask your tour guide.
