turbo silencer removal

so just installed an new afe stage 2 cold air on my 07 5.9 but didnt know about the silencer removal just curious what else it adds besides making your turbo louder or if there is any downfall

It only makes the turbo louder
Doesn't change power or fuel mileage
Noise difference is really only noticeable in the cab, can't really tell much of a difference from the outside

I just pulled mine out in the spring with 155k+ miles lol
I dont think the intake tube had ever been taken off cause it was a ***** to get off haha

I wish the ring was removable on the VGT turbo. Well I guess it techinically is, but you have to remove the comressor and hack it up...a lot of work for very little gain in sound.

There's more whistle from the VGT after it's deleted then a hx with the ring removed especially with the exhaust brake on IMO
I think removeing it might be to much on a 6.7 lol

I removed mine at around 55k miles. Then after my AFE Stage2 went on, it made the turbo even louder... sounds like a friggin jet!

I just removed mine tonight and didn't notice any sound difference, but I didn't drive it either just started it, so we will see in the morning on my way to work.

I didn't notice much of a difference till I put an intake on

I don't really notice mine too much. Yea it whistles a little but nothing crazy

mine got loud enough for me just putting the S&B intake. my turbo will be replaced before I ever take the ring off.
