NOW that the Hemi" of new have been in the fields for
2 decades, have they improve?? And just how, do they
still have the Hemi Tick? Is that a prerequisite of roller/cam
failure, and at what mileage do most fail? Has any one oil
proven to stop or delay these failures? I use Mobil, son
uses Amsoil, with Wix filters.

I have owned 3 Hemi from new, and all have been passed
down thru the family. Today the 04, belongs to GS, with
178K miles, has ran flawless till the drift pin backed out
of the rear end. Which I think was a known problem.
My son was the owner at that time and who is a Master Tech.
Did a work around of sorts. And it has been holding.
My son now has the 14 Hemi, with just under 100K miles.
and has no problems at this time.
At this time I have a 20 Hemi, with e-torq. No problems at
this time, but did loose the 2 yr. old battery last month.
The 04 is 2X4, the latter are 4x4.

All Hemi's have the engine transmission and rear end oil
changed at suggested time/mileage requirements.

Any thoughts, inputs?? Thanks for your time.......RAMaway

My son has a '03 Dodge 1500 with the 345 Hemi, bought in '04 and still has. Had a valve spring break, replaced them all, no other troubles and still has it, 200,000 mile area. I've had a '08 Chrysler Aspen 345 Hemi, no problems but used more gas than my old muscle cars. I had a '10 Challenger R/T 345 Hemi, over 100,000 miles, no problems, you could eat off the engine and got the best MPG of any 8 cylinder I've ever owned. I have now a '12 Dodge 2500 with the 345 Hemi, 222,500 miles to date, no problems and a '12 Dodge 1500 with the 345 Hemi, 145,000 miles and no problems. I guess I've been lucky so far, no cam and lifter issues or manifold bolts broken. I would be very angry if I had the problems with bolts, cam and lifters that I've heard others have had. Very expensive problem, shouldn't still exist!

my 2012 had tick since new, it failed at 135K... New cam two months ago... $7K
So sorry to hear that, shouldn't cost that much for an obvious defect somewhere. At least that's how I'm going to feel if it happens to me! I ran a '98 Dodge 360 engine up to 450,000 miles with no engine issues. A head cracked and it was using oil is why I changed it then. I've put 300,000 plus miles on many of my engines without a cam and lifter issue.
