Uconnect 8.4 soft reboot

"Step 1) Put your vehicle into the accessories mode (ACC or RUN) **For keyless start (push-button) vehicles: push the start button twice without having your foot on the gas or brake pedal**
Step 2) Hold down the Phone and voice recognition buttons (or volume and tuner knobs), at the same time, for thirty seconds.
Step 3) Let go of the buttons(after the screen goes black)
Step 4) Turn vehicle off
Step 5) Open driver’s side door for thirty seconds
Step 6) Close door
Step 7) Restart vehicle
Step 8) Let the media center load up and see if concern is still present"

You are talking about Uconnect Access. That is a service. This thread is not about that it’s about rebooting the Uconnect software.

However it cost about $150 for 1 year of Uconnect Access.....I did not renew mine when it was up

yea it's nice, but imo not worth the cost

It was recommended by a U-Connect tech for me to do this soft reset. I followed the above instructions to a "T" and nothing happens. When pressing the phone/VR combo (steering wheel, I assume), I just get "no phone connected, would you like to pair a phone". The volume/tuner combo just mutes the radio. I held them both over 40 secs, both in ACC and in RUN and get no black screen. Could they have changed this with a later update?

your radio is a newer radio, the reset procedure for it is probably different

There is no soft reset procedure for the 2018 and up.

I reset my 18 once using buttons on the steering wheel. But since the last update it hasn't worked.

On my '18, I found "Reset" under settings, didn't snap a pic after selecting reset, but there are three items. Think they were user settings, personal info, and reset to factory defaults...

I haven't, didn't realize reboot and reset weren't the same thing...

Thx for this thread, it saved my sanity when I wrongly disconnected my Ipod from the cord instead of from the usb port, kept saying connection lost and wouldn't play at all, this fixed it.

Gonna try this reboot and see if it restores my voice texting capabilities ...

About all this can do with a 2018 8.4 radio is to disconnect the battery for a few minutes to force a soft reset. Otherwise it sounds like a warranty replacement/dealer visit.
