I just received a recorded message from an 800 number (800-441-3765) that my Uconnect system will require an update to the GPS portion. It went on to say that I would be receiving a disk in the mail to do this update. It further said that if I had any questions to call Uconnect Care.

Has anyone else received this call?

I have heard of people getting cold called and emails about it, but this is the first Ive heard of them actually sending the file via snail mail.

Keep us posted when (if) you get it in the mail!

I certainly will.

I have to admit that my 2017 Ram 1500 is the most challenging vehicle I have ever owned! Upgrading from my old 2004 1500 is like going from a piston-driven airplane to a turbojet with advanced avionics.

In this day and age, I wouldn’t stick that disk in my computer or a usb stick in my truck without first calling UCONNECT and verifying it’s validity...

best,
DG

On a hunch I went to driveuconnect.com and found that there is an update for my system (17.43.01) to 18.45.01. I downloaded the software to a drive and will try to install it tomorrow.

This is the same method by which I upgraded my Uconnect system after I purchased my vehicle.

I received both a phone call, and email for the update, but there was no mention of being sent any disc from Uconnect.

I just performed the update and it went well. Takes about 15-20 minutes.

THe last time I performed an update (which was the first time also) it took me twice as long. That's because I fell into the (clever) booby-trap in the system. After the system updates it shows the update number (twice) and asks you if you want to re-install the update. The correct answer is NO.

Did my update with their USB drive from the mail, took about 30 minutes. Open and close the door/cycle run x2 was an interesting end to the process.

Yes I did mine Saturday, took a good 30 minutes. Everything seems like it is still working even my pre sets. LOL
