Uconnect ra4 navigation issues

Hello I have recently installed a Uconnect RA4 8.4
When I am driving the truck, the map does not refresh on it as the truck is in motion. I tried everything on it Updated Software, etc.but I can't figure out what is the problem. The map will refresh (every 1-2 minutes) and show the right location but then again it will stop. The compass shows the right direction and it’s getting signals from satellites it acts as if it’s behind my location about 1-2 minutes. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

i'm not sure of the map update for that radio. you might have to look at the uconnect web site.

does your radio menu options have a gps reset option?

I know that Gen 4 Ram
Navigation update map that you pay something like $140 for, comes with the Radio Update.

The last time that i updated was about 5 years ago, which is about the right time to update.
From 3 to 5 years between updates.

When i updated, it corrected the positioning of the vehicle on the Map

If you can find a Free Map Update, you would be good

I also talked to uconnect and they said a map update would not fix the problem I am having.

Uconnect says the maps for all vehicles 2016 and below are no longer available.

The maps (Garmin or HERE) are serialized and coupled to a VIN once activated after you do a voodoo dance. That being said, chances are finding a usable map is out there for free is almost zip.

Since they are no longer available thru Uconnect, seems as maps should be a free agent thing now and an aftermarket map maker should be able to supply them.

Know you just updated your radio, but you may want to consider a 8.4 upgrade from a 2019 or newer UAS unit out of a classic. Then you use your phone for maps and are never outdated. You can also use a UAQ which has navigation but then you are back to needing updates. There is a whole sticky thread about upgrading plus you need a harness that M²Mods in vendor section can sell you. I did the upgrade in my 2018 and best money I spent on my truck. Avoid 2018 UAS or UAQ as they had problems with the screens delaminating. My wife's vehicle has built in navigation and it can't use any of the new roads around us as well as new ones in areas we travel to.

I installed Waze navigation on my truck. Waze is free. I also installed Google navigation. It's also free. Both work just fine. I put both apps on my c-phone and synched to the truck's Bluetooth.
