Uconnect Touch Screen - Screen Protector?

Just installed one of these units and so far I'm liking it. For better or worse it takes that flat anti-glare finish look of the touch screen and imparts a "glass gloss" look to it. No change in touch-ability at all. I think it will be easier to keep it clean and seems to not show finger prints as bad as the no glare stock screen seemed to. Found it on Am-a-zon . Extremely fast shipping. All inclusive install kit was rather impressive: suction cup for handling, de-greasing wipe, dust removal stick-ums, etc. Ensure (if you go here) that you have good back-lighting so you can see the glass go down over the screen to ensure no air is trapped. If you do this in a reduced light setting it is hard to see any trapped air until it is to late. I had one small issue that I did manage to work out so now the install is near perfect,...no bubbles, no dust, etc.

Ordered one on eBay for$13.
They have poly film, but went with glass based on your review.

I’ll do that. I doubt there will be much of a perceptible diff other than the glass look to the screen, which may or may not show up. Suns coming up but I’ll wait till it’s late morning/ noon-ish before I try again (EST). It was more about the layer of protection in my mind, having an armoured glass surface. The glass unit is removable with a soap and water solution used sparingly according to the instruction sheet. Photo to follow. Sorry I didn’t do a before and after now. Btw, I installed this durning winter conditions. I simply let the heater warm the cab up before application. Stand-by.

Ok. So for what it’s worth here are some more Uconnect screen shots. What I’m attempting to do here is to show the gloss/shine that the protector imparts to the screen. There is a reflection due to the glass but no more then you see on your cell phone so equipped with armour glass protection. The icons for unit function do not get lost at all IMHO.

Here's a very lame attempt to show the stock screen reflective properties. This was shot by the dealer for their on-line inventory advertising.

Even with what some might think is a "reflective issue" I still like the idea of the protection and easy clean aspect for the glass.

Also, for those wondering about the blue trim color. My truck is what I believe they called the "Hydro Blue Sport" package. There were 2000 built in North America.

Side bar: I played Stevie Ray for by young daughter as bed-time music. She's now one of the few in her class (she's 21 now) that likes R&B. They are allowed to play music in high school now, as they work their subjects, something that would never have happened when I was in school (class of 77 here).

The teacher called her out on it one afternoon, "Who's playing Stevie Ray Vaughan?"

daughter: "Im am Mr. G!"

Mr. G: "How do you know about Stevie Ray?"

daughter: "My dad played it for me before bed every night."

Mr. G: "I need to have a talk with your dad...he's got good taste!"

One more item: I mention the "stick-um's" that come in the install kit. If you find that they don't work as you'd like...for whatever the reason,...you can use pretty much any sticky tape medium you desire. I , in fact, did not use the supplied "stick-um's" and opted for a bit larger surface area of my own duct tape supply. (Red Green would be proud of me). Just a gentle touch will remove the last of the dust particles before you install the glass. Cheers.

And the screen protector looks nice, too. I like that it covers the whole screen, as some I've seen leave a gap around the perimeter
