I was ready to shoot myself at the end !!!!

Decided to clean/wax my 2012 3500HD Dually 8 foot bed.

1. First I power-washed the **** out of it with a soap and rinsed. Then drove home - 30 minutes spent

2. I manually washed it at home again ( Meguiars Hyper Wash), scrubbed the front area with a bug-sponge and rinsed again - 1 hour

3. Dried it out with microfiber towels - 30 minutes with break.

4. Using a Meguiar's Final Inspection 34 and Blue Magic Clay bar and microfiber towels I clay-bar-ed the whole car - I couldn't believe how much crap were still on the car after two back to back washes. ----1.5 hours.

5. Break 1 hour

6. Wax time - Collinite Fleetwax and microfiber - around 2 hours.

the results --- spectacular !!!!. Collinite Fleetwax should be really water resistant.

Wondering how many times can I was the car before re-waxing it again?

Wax usually last about 6 weeks whereas a sealant lasts about 6 months. These time frames vary depending on how often you wash your truck, whether you park inside or outside etc etc. I'd also suggest using a spray detailer inbetween waxes, everytime you wash your truck. Collinite is an excellent choice in wax--I use Collinite 845 and put it over Wolfgang 3.0 Sealant. That combination last me about 7-8 months.

Nice job. That must be a beast. Mine takes forever compared to other vehicles I've owned. I plan to top mine with Liquid Sovereign tonight -- prior to going on road trip.

It's so worth it! I finally got through carefully clay bar'n the truck, and then the Mother's 3 step wax (pre-cleaner, sealer & glaze and wax) and holy crap! It had a shine I didn't know it ever could!

I can only imagine what it'd look like cut n buffed, but I'm not that gutsy... yet.

I'll try the same sequence plus sealant on my SLK AMG next time. Car is small and low - shouldn't take so long.

A shiny one
Nice work! Many people don't realize how much work it takes to DO IT RIGHT!

Just a little time saving tip, skip the drying step if you're going to be going straight to clay bar. The water left on the surface when added to the lubricant of your choice, only adds to the lubrication for the clay bar. :)

But ain't the box purdy?????? There are a lot of excellent waxes and sealants out there that are a LOT CHEAPER than that.

It's not that expensive. Please don't think I'm associated with Amazon or any of these products but this is a cost break down:

The Fleet Wax is about $20

Amazon.com: Collinite Paste Fleetwax #885, 12 oz: Sports & Outdoors

Meguiar's Final Inspection $9 - lubricant for Clay Bar

Amazon.com: Meguiar's Final Inspection 16 ounces: Automotive

Clay Magic Blue Bar is $28

Amazon.com: Clay Magic Blue, Fine Grade (200 g): Automotive

Meguiar's M2116 Synthetic Sealant - $29 - after-wax

Meguiar's M2116 Synthetic Sealant 16oz : Amazon.com : Automotive
