I have a 17 ram sport with leather, heated and cooled seats. Ive had my truck for a year now and it kills my upper back. Its very hard and uncomfortable. I went on a short 3 hour trip and couldn't get out of truck fast enough. I was thinking about having the top cushion redesigned on both fronts. Anyone else feel the same on the seats or have any advise on the matter?

I agree- these leather seats are the hardest vehicle seats I have ever had. Wish I had gotten the fabric. Thankfully being retired and traveling long distances I pull over every couple of hours and get out.

Is it a lumbar support issue?

I like my leather seats, no complaints here. However on long trips I pull over every 2-3 hours or so to take care of business so I can’t comment on any time spent longer than that :birgits_tiredcoffee

I have cloth seats in my C/C I’ll trade front and rear and $50 per seat to boot.
I’ll also pay shipping for all

That is funny that you said that. I have back problems and so does my dad. I have cloth seats but electric ( it says premium cloth)... it is amazing on my back however my dad hates it. I sat in the Leather version of the ram and I did not like the signals my back were giving me. Even though its basically the same seat.....

He hurts within minutes of getting in my truck and I hurt within minutes of sitting in his Tacoma. The human body is tricky

I had to sit in all of them in a test drive. Leather, Sport bucket, and the Big Horn "premium cloth"..

Didn't really care for the leather at all. Stiff and uncomfy.
Sport Bucket - Mesh like cloth (reminds me of the Nissan Frontier seats).
Big Horn Premium cloth. - Looks nice, but was slightly stiff for a premium seat.

winner. sport Bucket Mesh. the mesh is actually quite comfortable, and will be very breathable in the summer.

Of course, you can only get the Sport Mesh seats in a Night or Sport trim, so liking the truck better and the seats was a winner.

I too have a bad back and after surgery my back is picky for sure. I have no issues with the leather buckets but I’ve always taken a break after a couple of hours or so.

No complaints from me with my leather Seats. They are a little stiff, but I think it’ll take some time to break them in.

Its a personal thing. My wife has back issues, and she has to try out any vehicle I own. She loved my first '09 Ram with the cloth seats, but seems to like the leather (heated and cooled) in the current 09 just as well. We've done a few short 2-3 hour trips so far with no issues. Planning a run down to FL soon, so we'll see then.

I sold my Mazda 3 to my brother before getting back into a truck. It had heated leather in it with I liked. Just the other day, he needed to borrow the truck, so brought me the Mazda. I was amazed at how hard the seats felt compared to the Ram. Guess it's what you get used to. car still handles like it's on rails, but I love my truck.

Ive put about 12k miles on my truck since I got it 7 months ago, Laramie with the 'leather', and cant say I have much bad things to say about the seats. I dont do an insane amount of driving but definitely more than the average person, and I really like my seats, especially the memory function and the exit/entrance mode they have.

Have you treated the leather? Obviously during winter they seize up a bit and become more stiff, but perhaps regularly conditioning and what not will keep them more supple. Thats what works for me, not neglecting them until they are dirty.

Ill look into that. They have been pretty stiff from the beginning and i've only used cleaners not a conditioner. Could help

It definitely makes a difference in my experience. The cleaners will not nourish it like a good conditioner. Chemical guys makes some decent leather stuff and even a leather kit. its like 60 bucks but right now its 25% off on their site.
