Afternoon, gents.
This may be already addressed somewhere but here goes.
Ram 1500 , 2021 model 5th gen, 12” screen wants to update Unconnect. I keep getting the message, update now or schedule.
After reading on here about all the calamities after updates, I don’t WANT to. But how do I get this message to go away and not update my system? Surely like updates for phones etc is must be ‘optional’?
Thanks in advance!

Clive, i only have the 8.4 AN radio, called the RA 4

On my last Ram, when the satellite wanted to send an update, you could postpone it for a while.
It would eventually force the update to download, if for some reason the owner did not realize that there was a download occurring, they shut the vehicle off. it would mess up the update & the radio.

My current Ram updates have to be downloaded from the internet to a thumb drive, completely empty, small GIG, FAT 32 formatted
That way the Ram owner knows that a d/l is occurring & hopefully does not shut the vehicle off.
Some owners are not Starting the engine, as per instructions
( the reason for having the engine running just keeps the battery charged )
Instead they just hook up a Battery charger of some type & save fuel & cut down on Idle Time on the engine.
I leave one FOB in the ignition & have another in my pocket

I don't know how the Enter & Go FOBs owners would have to do it

Yeah in my experience it's kind of like a windows update. It will ask you to do it or schedule it for a while but eventually it will just do it. I scheduled this latest update to install 2 nights ago and haven't had any issues from it.

Receive my first update notice in the parking lot at work, hesitated on initiating the update had to think about it for the day. I decided to initiate the update in the dealers parking lot in the event that anything would go sideways. By the way, does anyone know what this update included?

I got my first update notice on Wednesday for my 12 uconnect when I shut the truck off to talk to a buddy. I hit the update button while sitting in the truck next to his and it took about 15 or 20 minutes to complete. I dont know what exactly was updated and I didnt notice any changes afterwards and I havent had any problems with it after the update

This is so weird we all feel such apprehension to do such a basic task!
I keep putting it off. Going to let it do it’s thing today ( maybe, lol)

simple enough for me. I let it run out and didnt renew. 16$ a month or what ever it is was not worth it to me to be able to start my truck with my phone or whatever else you could do with it. no more updates

I'm not sure the radio update has anything to do with the app on your phone. Well to be honest with I'm not sure what the update even did for the radio but I agree, the uconnect app is not worth my money to renew it

Yeah all of my rams have done OTA updates like this, regardless of current status of uconnect subscription (most of my ownership of rams has been without it).
