so...as many of you know I replaced all my speakers in my base stereo with Kicker CS series. I was very happy...but something seemed missing. Crutchfield convinced me to put 6.5"

in the front doors since the 6x9

because the 6x9 were too deep to fit. Well. I sent the 6.5" back and got another pair of the 6x9 for the front doors along with some 1/4" cnc machined plastic spacers and they fit perfectly!

More importantly....the sound is now SO MUCH FULLER and better all around. I am very happy with this...and I strongly suggest that you use these 6x9 brackets for WHATEVER set of 6x9 you want to put in the front doors!

Well...that's my update. The sound is now more full, better mids, better bass etc.

Here's the 6x9 spacers should you decide to go this route.

I’ll certainly have to look into that, thank you for your thread. I just ordered some speakers off Crutchfield myself and they told me the same thing that my speaker wells in the front doors were too shallow for any other 6x9 they had. Even said they were too shallow for freakin’ 6.5’s, too. Wonder why they never told me about spacers. Do they even sell spacers?

They actually referred 5.25 replacements with adapters which is what I ordered so I’m pretty sure now after reading this that they’ll be gettin sent back.

What truck you got? Mine’s a 2018 Ram Limited 1500 with the 10-speaker Alpine.

If you have the Alpine, you may need 2 ohm, and stick with 6x9's if you can...you'll miss a lot with 5.25".

Well, that’s what Crutchfield said, was I have a 2-ohm system. I don’t know what the OP has but I was gonna ask since the speakers he bought are 4 ohm.

It didn’t work out too well the last time I had bought a set of Kicker 3-way 6x9’s for my old truck. It had the 2-ohm infinity audio in it and when I replaced all the speakers in it, Crutchfield advised those and they didn’t work worth a crap. I just eventually ended up taking them completely out and stuffed them back in the box.

At least they fit the holes, tho.

Yes,if it had factory 2 ohm and you put Kicker 3 way, they are 4 ohm, you received 1/2 the power.

I have a 2010 Ram Sport Crew. ya they do NOT sell the spacers. When I spoke to them they didnt' even know about them so they said. Anyway, definitely return the 5" and get matching 6x9 for the front. Which speakers did you order? I guess it'll depend just HOW deep they are if you'll need 1 of the spacers per side or you might need 1/2" depending.

JBL GX Series are 2 ohm and a great speaker for the price.

Got a link? The only ones I found were 3 ohm- which is fine, but I was looking for what you mentioned.

There must be some reason why they don’t, or even advise towards them. They sell an adapter to go from a 6x9 hole down to a 5.25-6.5 speaker but not spacers.

I got these for the rear doors, and these for the front doors.

According to Crutchfield’s website for my truck, they say the reason why the Infinity’s that I bought for the rear doors won’t work for the front doors is because supposedly I only have an available depth of 2.904 inches with a maximum of 3.813 inches of magnet diameter and those speakers are 3.071 inches deep and the magnets are 3.94 inches in diameter.

What are the specs on those Kicker 6x9’s you got? How many spacers did you need? I’m assuming the factory pockets are the same between yours and mine.

Me and Google - we need no introduction... matter of fact we’re pretty tight but sometimes a little outside help never hurt no one...[emoji41]

Those are pretty close to 2-ohm but I wonder how those would sound over the 3-ohm Infinity’s?

We sold Infinitys for a short time. Forge the model, the one in a blue box.

I preferred the JBLs. I always have found Infinity much to bright for my taste.

Well, lookie here....lol. Just thought I’d share this finding of mine with all y’all.

I just noticed something on the factory front door speakers of my old Ram(the 2008).....

I had to order a new speaker from some other dealership because I had to change out the passenger side 6x9 sub that blew out long time ago but uh, I just noticed that the front speakers already have an adapter stuck to them that’s removable via four clip-tab thingys..... Hmmm....[emoji848]

Now, I won’t know about my new truck until I go to take the front door panels off but it’s awful interesting that my old truck had spacers to make the factory 6x9 subs fit in the doors....interesting, yes? I thought so....yet based on what the OP said Crutchfield told him, they probably would have been “surprised to hear about the spacers already used to make the factory speakers fit... cf9b5408c2b8d51b2b14b88e2372811a.jpgf5d608473d325928ec797ec0bf96e1eb.jpg68365c0c13f26ad843fb3a3ca0fe9b27.jpg4e478e98c552badc81164c2bc8950540.jpg

I have no idea why they don't use them. I told a couple techs about the spacers and they seemed surprised. seems like a foolish thing NOT to carry them as they worked perfectly. yes we have the same issue with the front doors, I'd think every ram would due to the window motor track being directly behind the speaker. that's what's limiting your depth.

I put these in with a top-mount depth: 3-3/16" and they fit perfectly with the 1/4" bracket extensions.
