I am looking to upgrade from the factory 3.0 to a bluetooth friendly audio system. I am looking at 2 options and wondering which is the most budget friendly route:

1) 8.4 uconnect
2) Aftermarket setup

The aftermarket stereos I am interested in are in the $249 - $299 range but have heard mixed opinions about what is required to wire and install the stereo. I have no audio bells and whistles or backup cameras to worry about... I am just tired of the pour audio quality from the 3.5mm aux jack.

Thoughts?

If you want something basic, you could get a bluetooth stereo and parts for right around $250 total.

I just installed a Pioneer double din in my truck today. I'm in about $225 for the radio, wiring harness, bracket and supplies. I have a backup cam, so I had a little extra wiring to get the camera wiring.

If you go to a factory radio, you will have to add the factory microphone rearview mirror, which is pricey. Then, I believe you have to go to Ram and get that feature activated, which costs more money. With the aftermarket radio, it comes with a mic you can mount anywhere. I mounted mine to the steering column.

But chrck out the s100 or s160...if you in to a little of a gamble...there are some pretty good reviews..also they are plug and play
