I just wanted to share this with anyone planning a cam swap or MDS delete. I recently swapped cams in my 2012 ram and quickly realized my budget wasn’t gonna cover everything needed to do the job correctly. Needing my vehicle I decided to use “ bargain” parts I found on the e-market. One of those budget buys were the plugs for the MDS solenoids. I figured they weren’t an integral piece of the cam assembly such as lifters or valves so it’d be ok. A plugs a plug…..

Well I was wrong and it almost cost me an engine. Not to mention the “cookie crumb” trail of oil I left from the neighborhood entrance all the way to my drive way. Kinda embarrassing

Hopefully, everyone on this site is smarter than I am and avoids cheap ******** altogether. But if it is absolutely necessary to go that route use some caution making your selection. I’m sure they have decent parts available online for good prices, but they also offer junk. And they have no remorse for how it might negatively impact your vehicle.

First ones of the bad plugs. Second is Mopar. Different everything, from the metal to the o-rings.
