We are looking at upgrading our travel trailer to a slightly larger one. My truck is a 2018 CC 3:55, V-6 rated at 7420# towing capacity and 1500 payload w/ 60k . Currently we have a 19'BH that is 4000 GV. I am looking at a 28' BH that is approx. 4800# dry. If I assume that the max GV of the replacement trailer would be 5500# and that I maintain 20% within towing capacity of the truck, this puts me around 5900 #'s for comfortable tow rating. Am I missing anything? The current set up works well and the trailer pulls well. Any real-world experience/advise with a similar size and weight camper with this motor /gear setup? This camper is used approximately five times per year mainly traveling to the SC coast and back into the mountains of NC. I feel that I am in spec range and will notice it as I come into the mountains but aside from that should be ok? I have tried to find similar threads discussing this but they mainly have 3:21 ratios. If I have missed this discussion somewhere please advise. Thanks for any input.
