I know you are asking about the V6, but I have a V8 5.7L Hemi with the ECO mode in my Ram Rebel 4X and with my summer go fast 20" wheels I average 23-25 on the highway. Even with my 17" wheels with KO2's on I get 20-21 in the winter. The speed limit is 70 on I-5 here and I'm doing that or maybe a little above but I notice when I'm on country highways I get better mileage at around 55-60mph. I get 450 miles on a tank pretty regularly.

Just so you can compare an equally heavy truck with a larger engine in it.

Around town I average 19-20 with some freeway driving. Flat highway less than 70 mph, maybe 24 with some tailwind. If I get 27 one way will be 22 the other. Those hills really make a difference. I am a "light-foot" driver, shift into neutral to coast down hills and really watch the economy gauge.

Dad is wanting to trade is Silverado for a Ram with a V6 but was asking what kind of mileage they get. He is going to look at a 2018 Ram 4x4 Big quad cab big horn.

I told him they do as well as the Chevy v6 to expect mid 20s but I didn't know for sure. Dad drives really really easy and slow, always wants to get the best MPG. So If you you drive one of those easy; what kind of MPG do you see?

I just drove mine 169.2 miles on Sunday at about 76 MPH and used not quite half a tank, about 12 gallons. 14.1 miles per gallon. Add-in that I was burning E-85 (reduced mileage) and heavier custom wheels (minor difference on the highway) and I would say, with regular gas and stock wheels, about 16 MPG would be a fair estimation.

What I’ve noticed with my 2018 CCSB 4X4 BigHorn 3.6L and 3:21s is the sweet spot for highway MPG is about 60mph with the cruise control on. The idiot gauge has read as high as 27 MPG but anything above 60 on the highway will start to drop the fuel economy quickly. I drive conservatively with 50/50 city and highway and average 19-21.

I am happy with my Hemi, only have just under 1000 miles but averaging 18 mpg for work which is half highway half 50mph secondary roads .
I took a trip north which was round trip 234 miles and averaged 21.4 mpg. 2020 quad cab 4x4 with Hemi. I am very happy with that compared to my old F150 with a 390 in it lol
Also beats the chevy quad cab 4 x 4 I had 10 years ago . Pretty decent mileage for a full sized 4x4 I think

After almost one year of ownership, 22.0 MPG.

My truck is either driven on short trips (<5 miles) or highway cruising 100-200 miles. Almost nothing in between, FWIW.

Put the RIPP Supercharger coil packs on, easily a 5-7% increase in fuel efficiency and QOL. Best $300 I ever spent

Oh, and I average about 20 city, 26-7 highway but to be honest I no linger measure it. I filled-up every 2.5 weeks pre COVID. Now? Actually, I have no idea the last time I got gas? [emoji848]

Keep in mind I never tow, it’s not for work so the bed is almost always empty and I have a bed cover. I also maintain my truck like a lunatic and drive fairly light.

2018 4x4 crew cab, short bed, 3.21

You notice much of a difference with those coil packs?Any improvement on throttle response?I had a pedal commander and didn't like it and was considering those coils.I have a slight pause when i push the throotle and was hoping to elimanate it with these.

Why? Does he have mods?

With an AEM drop in air filter, Corsa Cat back, Diablosport with Hemifever tune I was getting up to 24mpg at 60mph to and from work. 18 miles one way. Yes 24 MPG! In a HEMI!

Once I got the headers put on, I am getting up to 20mpg combined. Usually no lower than 18mpg depending how I drive. Again, generally 36 miles a day to and from work, M-F. Generally short trips to the store on the weekend, or a 35 minute highway drive into "town".

Lol ********.

Of the 20+ million miles tracked on fuelly, you would be the only Hemi owner getting over 22 combined.of 2,381 RAMs tracked, 14 are claiming an average if 22. That’s .923% of the total owners population.

Maybe if you’re driving down hill on a highway [emoji23]

Yes. It’s just like a better pedal commander. Smooths out the band, don’t expect power gains however.

Not ********. Before I put the ARH Long tubes I could get up to 24mpg on my drive to and from work, with the hemifever tune. 60mph. Eastern NC so no hills. If you don't believe me, ***!

Totally doable on the hemi - AT 60 mph. That speed and flat are key and of course no wind.

I can get 28 mpg @ 45-50 mph in the florida keys with my 3.92 2016 CC hemi ram - running on 4 cyl mode almost the entire time.
At 70-74 mph in florida will drop the mpg to 18-19 usually.
At 74 mph going across the country into a side headwind as low as 12 mpg as high as 16 mpg - wind is every thing and coming from the 45 deg angle to the truck is worse than a pure headwind. Knock the wind out of the equation and I might hit 19-20 @ 74 mph.

It’s just baloney. I’m sorry, not going to let you sit here and lie through your teeth and give someone bad information.

Ok, so you’re the only one in the world in over 20million tracked miles getting 24 combined, getting above the eco diesel, etc.

See how stupid that sounds?

It’s just normal “my bigger engine gets just as good gas mpg blablabla” ba that exists in EVERY forum. Saw the same stuff on the challenger forums, nothing new at all

It's really not stupid. I didn't say I got 24 combined, I said I was able to achieve 24mph to and from work, with a drop in filter, cat back exhaust and a hemifever tune. Which if you read my previous posts you would read my daily work drive is 36 miles on the highway. My coworker actually has a 2016 eco diesel, and he gets way over 24mpg combined so not sure where you got that from...? I'm sorry that you have an issue with something that I personally experienced. Anyway, get on with yourself. Later! :)

Read his post.

Mixed miles highway and city, non perfect conditions.

It’s simple math fellas. If you’re getting 24 combined at 50/50 splits, you need to get about 30 highway.

You’re getting 30 highway in a RAM hemi? I couldn’t sniff that in my challenger [emoji1787]

He said "With an AEM drop in air filter, Corsa Cat back, Diablosport with Hemifever tune I was getting up to 24mpg at 60mph to and from work. 18 miles one way. Yes 24 MPG! In a HEMI!"

What if his route is a 2 lane low traffic, no stop route and 3.21 gears?
What if 2wd vs. 4 wd?

Then he would be the only person in 20+ million tracked miles reporting such mpg in a hemi.

The cast majority of hemi owners with split driving on fuelly are reporting roughly 16mpg. There is a .05mpg margin of error.

If you search for those 20 and up, they are eco diesels, mostly highway miles, 2WD, and other edge cases.

So in conclusion he’s getting better MPG than eco diesels, V8 hybrids, some V6’s and his mods added 22.22% increased fuel economy on normal tanks and 40% increased mpg on his best runs? Ok.
