I bought a new 2018 Ram Quadcab V6 and now have 64K miles on it. I get around 21 MPG in the city with the original Goodyear SRAs or my new Cooper AT tires which I'm thrilled with but unfortunately the highway mileage is barely any better but I usually drive about 85 on the the highway. The Cooper AT tires are very smooth and quiet for an AT tire and they look better than all season tires.

I have 3.55 gears, all stock, and I get 22 on the highway running around 70mph, in the city I get about 19.

Dad is wanting to trade is Silverado for a Ram with a V6 but was asking what kind of mileage they get. He is going to look at a 2018 Ram 4x4 Big quad cab big horn.

So If you you drive one of those easy; what kind of MPG do you see?
My absolute best has been 27.9 on the highway. But that's my 2 wheel drive quadcab tradesman 3.21 axle. Lately 26.8 is pretty much it. I can hold 24-25 in town.

I would see similar numbers on some shorter trips.

What does your average come out to over a whole tank of gas hand calculated? I know in the ~40K miles I owned my 2017 w/ pentastar, the dash would always read 1 to 1.5 higher than what I call reality, what is hand calculated miles driven dived by gallons. That would level out to maybe 23mpg average in the summer and 21 tops in the cold of winter.

My 30,000mi average of everything I do with the truck is 21.5mpg. Crew cab, 4x4, 3.21 on 265/70/17 grabber AT2s. That includes towing, idling, off-road, commuting, pure highway, etc. Hand calculated.

Number is high as I commute 400mi/wk on rural roads at 55-60mph.

I keep track of my mileage with Fuelly. It's usually close to what the avg says on the dash. That being said, I drive 14 miles to work each way, about half is interstate and the rest is a rural 2 lane with 3 stop signs. If I drive between 70-75 on the interstate and between 40-45 on the 2 lane, I still am lucky to get 21. My average hovers right around 19.5 - 20 which is disappointing to me with the V-6. It seems a stiff head breeze will keep it in 7th or 6th gear and anything but a downhill and it won't stay in 8th. I actually think if the rear were swapped for a 3.55 (or whatever is close) it would get better mileage because it would hold 8th better.

I see right this second fuelly says 19.8. I towed a boat yesterday and that knocked the avg down.

My 2017 4x4 riding on 35" BFGs with the 3.21 rearend is doing 19 mpg average per tank. Lots of highway as I am 20 miles each way for work 4 days a week.
When the Mrs and I drove to Canada, it averaged 21 mpg on the highway. Long drive too, 1600 miles one way.

So you installed them and you have seen a real increase? Was looking at these a while back hoping someone would post a real world example.
What kind of milage do you get now?
Stock wheels and tires? Lift?

No lift, stock wheel and tire size. I had a very atypical commute before pandemic so I wouldn’t use my driving as the north star.

I fill up only about every 2 months now so I don’t even look at it these days.

I can tell you it helped smooth the powerband, and increase MPG. Was actually worth the $250.

Thanks
I was getting 24-25 mpg with the stock wheels and tires in the first 1 week I owned it waiting for the lift to be installed.

2018 QC with the 3.6. I have a shell on the back and most of my driving is highway. If i keep the speeds at the speed limit my best for a long haul was 27MPG. I regularly see 24+/- and on a bad day its 22 MPG. Back roads will do better than straight highway will. Only modification to the truck is a K/N air filter.. Overall i am pretty pleased with it.

'17 with 3.92. I average 17 mpg, mostly non-highway but on fairly long stretches of local roads.

I mean, 17 on city driving with 3.92 is pretty damm good.

Hell yeah, I'm not complaining. On longer highway trips doing around 65-70 I'll usually get around 21-22 hand calc'd. Part of that is because I don't let it get to 8th gear. I've found that my 3.6 gets it's best mpg at about 2200-2300 rpm.

Got the K&N filter in and ran some injector cleaner through the tank. Now getting 19.4 mpg overall. Am looking at some different coil packs to install when I do the spark plugs.
RIPP claims it will improve the mileage and power. They do look pricey though.

Stock wheels, k&n intake...

24-25, looking to do the RIPP Coils so maybe I'll gain a .5 or even 1mpg

I have never seen 25 mpg on my Pentastar . My 2015 4x4 Ouad Cab w/AT/S tires best was 23.4 . Highway 70/75 MPH . and was 20/21 mpg around town..from the truck reading, Hand Calculated about 1 MPG less...
Still good IMO for a full size truck..

Did a brake job done found E Brake pads shot and hanging loose ! Fixed and now getting 22.5 avg around town,
Will see what highway gives me !

Why are the Ripp Coils supposed to be better ?

Thanks

Really depends on the driving. Hills kill it obviously.

Ripp coils are supposedly more efficient. Biggest notice I saw was a smoother powerband.

A consistent 24-25mpg tank to tank hand calculated would be ideal situation driving. I think the best I could do with my 2017 Pentastar Ram 1500 was in the 23 mpg range. 24 to 25 on certain trips is doable.

This is coming from someone who has yet to get less than ~21mpg tank/tank with my 2019 Ram 1500 classic w/ hemi.
