Is this the same noise people are getting on cold start up with the bad lifter issue? Just noticed it doing it yesterday. 2014 with 49100 miles. And for the oil guys, Amsoil SS 5-20 , 3000miles ago. Oil was checked before that start up vid and was at level.

Its weird that it just started. I bought it used with 42k and didnt start till now.
1900 miles on yours and it randomly did it would make me take it in to get checked for being that new.

Not sure. But my ‘12 has done that since I bought it. It’s more noticeable during the summer months. Than it is during the winter though

Exact same noise my truck makes if I start it, barely drive it, turn it off then come back and start it within an hour or so. That second start it will tick just like in the video. Done it since new and seems to be "normal" around here.

Hard for me to tell the exact nature of the tapping from the noise of the exhaust on my crappy phone speaker. Following for more info anyways.

Thats when i noticed it, same scenario. Moved it back. A few hours later started it to move it forward and heard it. So this morning i decided to take a vid on first start.

The parts guy at the dealership told me the SRT oil filter would not fit my 2018 6.4. You got the 6.4? I you do please share the part number.

Off the box. M0-041 or 05038041AA. my dealer told me the same thing. I listen to the people on here. and it fits. dealers only know what the computer tells them. I do have a 6.4 and love it!

I personally think its something with the programming. Like the computer thinks the truck is warm (because it started relatively recently), makes certain parameter value choices but they dont jive with reality (the truck actually not being warm) and you get the tick. Could be a variable timing choice, etc.

In my case it ONLY happens in that specific instance, so I just avoid it as much as possible. Seems silly to drive around the block just to move the truck to the other side of the driveway, but its not dumb if it works :)

Mines done it regardless of how long it’s sat for. My truck only gets drove about once a week. So I know it doesn’t think it’s warm. Lol

Well crap. I guess it will be a good reason to do a cam and lifter swap. and get rid of mds at the same time.

I've never really liked starting a vehicle, moving it a few feet, then shutting it right back down. I have always let my cars/trucks idle for a few minutes.

I think Ive tried that too, idling doesnt seem to fix the issue. Getting the RPMs up (Ive never tried just revving it) seems to be the key. Even if just for a couple minutes.

Darn. Although mine has sat for up to a week and the first startup after sitting was no different than any other (I even recorded a video just because I was expecting the noise)
