And let me just say WHAT A PAIN IN THE ASS THAT WAS!!!!!!! Nothing fit, the scoops in the bumper needed fixing to work with the cover, The hoses could not be routed the way the directions said, in fact mosty of the directions that came with it didnt seem to work, fit or look right with my truck, they also gave me the wrong size clamps to hold the large hoses on, they gave me 4 of the smaller 127mm ones and only 3 of the larger 140mm so I had to go find one to make it work...... But it is on and the added time to actually make it work, although a pain in the ass, was worth it.

Next I need to pick up a grill insert for the bumper to better hide everything. I attempted to make one out of the gutter material but it didnt work ot to well and kept coming apart. Also want to get the orange cover painted/aisbrushed but that is gonna have to wait.

I loved the performance of it (even compared to the BFI I had for a while) - but the fit and finish blows. I hope their 4th gen one is MUCH better.........

There is no way I was getting rid of tow hooks for that pita and I was sick of waiting so I went with k and n. Nice work though.

Now that its on its great, gotta give it some time to lean back out and relearn but that install just pissed me off the instructions just skipped around and fitment issues were a serious problem for whatever reason. Followed some instructions for the 1500 and some for the 2500 to get it to work right.

Looking at it, you wouldnt have to get rid of your tow hooks, the mounts for the hooks are just at the sides of where the scoops mount so there would be no issues there I would think running them both

Well driving to work this morning, the gas pedal feels a like there is more there now, meaning giving it a little gas gets it moving pretty easily. One distinct difference I noticed is the sound coming from it, sounds so much more mellow than the aFe did, which also seems to have mellowed out my exhaust when the cutout isnt open, not a bad thing, just not the same I guess.

See that would bother me.... I already think my exhaust isn't loud enough. This is actually the first thread I've seen someone wasn't raving about the varram. Hope you like it man

Looks good Ryan. Maybe it is the difference between 4x4 and 2wd, but I did not think mine as too bad to install. Fit and finish, as you and others said, is not the best, but wait till you get on the highway and merge into traffic, that is where I noticed the biggest difference with mine.:driver:

That's where I notice the biggest difference with yours too, lol.

I still havent gotten that pos worthless hyper PAC back from hyper tech, what a lame ass company, to do a on board dyno before I chuck it into the garage to sit forever to say what gains I have or don't have over the air raid. But I still love knowing it's there. And mine wasn't hard to install at all

Its not that I dont like it, the truck feels more responsive and I'll give it a thurough run through in about a week after it relearns things (pcm reset).

Guys that have it, can you open the vararam lid easily or does it only open enough to get your hands in and get the filter out?

Mine did not open all the way, but I was able to easily get the filter in and out. I have heard that if you ad a throttle body spacer that it will move everything forward enough to allow it to open.

Can you get a tb spacer with out the annoying whistle? There was one installed on my truck when I got it and it lasted a week. Everyone that got in for a ride thought I had a belt going bad

Mine was an easy install. Took me about an hour but also did not have enough of the big hose clamps... cant fully open the intake. Noticed a great improvement on speed and all alreary, at 40mph + can just hear air flowing in. Looks great and had many complements already. I have a little whistle sound i guess you can say, only when the throttle body opens, but i like it.

It doesn't fully open because of the size of the unit when installed positions it under the cowl. It opens enough to get the Green filter in and out. I just cleaned and re-oiled mine. Throttle response is the biggest bonus. :naughty:

That's another thing, mine didn't say it was an oiled on, didn't look oiled and didn't come with any oil.
