I cannot remember if mine came oiled or not. It did come with a cleaning/oiling kit, but I think Moe's added that in.

So I guess I need to oil the thing then cause mine came with nothing on it and no kit to clean or oil. Which again makes me wonder if its an oiled system. I can always use the stuff from my afe kit if need be

You could always call Vararam and ask them. They do have the Green Filter Oil/cleaning kit on their web site, but I could not find anything saying that it uses an oiled filter

Well, sucks you had so much trouble with it but it looks great and sounds like the performance is there.

Yeah Im gonna either shoot them an email or give them a call , just seems odd that it wouldnt come pre oiled or have the stuff to do it yourself with the purchace or mentio it in the instructions if it was an oiled filter.

I had ordered a 2nd Green filter from Vararam (as this filter is proprietary to Vararam) so that I could clean and oil one while using the other in case it took too long to dry here in humid Pa. and the new filter came pre-oiled. As per the instuctions, it doesn't take much oil so it may look dry by the time it get's to you. With the cleaning kit you only give the filter one spray every 2". I wasn't sure if this meant to spray only the outside of the filter so I sprayed the oil on the outside and the inside. Hope this helps answer any questions.

YEah that kinda helps, I was looking at the filter and it doesnt appear to have any color to it though which is what got me thinking that it was a dry filter as the look and feel of it made it seem that way. But if they put a light amount of oil it may not have the bright coloring like my old kit did. When I opened it out of the box it was bright blue, no mistaking that it came pre oiled, this one though is a toss up I guess

Got a reply back from vararam, mine is oiled, came preoiled and needs their CLEAR oil kit. Which would explain why it doesn't look oiled

Wonder why they dont use a dye in it? I mean it would be easier to make sure the filter itself is evenly coated.

I know right, most filters out there have the dye too show an even coat, that it is coated and for the look, but clear? If they are going to use a clear oil then they definitely need to say that it is a clear oil on it and not leave it to guessing games.
