Everyone knows that upgrading to a typical CAI (K&N, AEM, Airaid, etc) will drastically increase the volume of the engine...

Is the same true for the Vararam (different design) and the S&B (more enclosed)???

I'll be upgrading to either the Vararam or the S&B in the next few mos and I'm just curious...

Thanks guys!

Honestly I couldn't tell a difference in noise when I installed my Vararam. Most likely because it seals against the hood and the only open area is the front where the air comes in. Definitely felt it though, it performs great :D

Vararam all the way!

IMO u should go with vararam all the way performance wise, it has been proven on the dyno & real track times & including moes performance vararam cai thread. Reason I think it's best cai is because of the design, as u stated.

Like the posts above mentioned, the Vararam and S&B are actually the best performing intakes available for these trucks. Vararam wins in overall performance though due to its design. It is the only intake that actually forces air into the motor which is why it makes more power than all the others. You wont be disappointed with either kit.

Both Varam and S&B are nearer to stock in terms of throttle noise (not perfromance) than the open types you described. I had a K&N on a 4.7L Durango and the D@mn thing would just about shake my fillings out at full throttle.
