Noticed today there is a bad vibration with clicking. Pulled the rear driveshaft, joints are fine. Any ideas? It sounds like its coming from the middle of the truck.

Tap exhaust with a ball peen in a few places? See if you hear any secondary rattles....

Check for rocks stuck in tires...

Look for loosely attached cables/hoses...

Is it dependent on rpm or speed?
Only happen cold?

I pulled off the rear driveshaft, put it in 4 hi, and drove it. Vibration got a lot worse. That led me to the front end. Turned out i have a badly torn CV boot, and narrowed it down to the CV. New CV deivers side shaft is only $80. At advance auto. Gonna change it tomorrow.

Glad you got it all squared away, and that it wasn't too bad or expensive.

Ok went to rwmive drivers CV axle, can not get it to come out of the front diff. Tried prying, hooked a ratchet strap to it, wont budge. Any ideas?

I've not done one myself on this axle, but on most I have worked on, there is a c-clip or similar holding it either on outside of housing, or inside duff carrier, but those are rare.

From the few minutes of research I have done, it appears there is a retaining clip inside the diff that has to retract to pull out. It usually does this with simple slide-hammering it out...A few instances I have seen where people had to pull the diff cover off and manually retract that retaining clip to pull it out...

Wish I had better news for you.

Oh im aware of the retaining clip, but its putting up a hell of a fight popping loose. I tried yanking on the loose ratchet strap, almost broke my hand. Tried two prybars evenly prying, to no avail. There isnt much of a lip to pry on.
Even tried prying while tapping on it with a 4# mini sledge, while it had tension on it feom a ratchet strap pulling outward on it. Im ready to take a damn 600 amp arc gauge to it. Lol
Gonna try hooking a steel cable with a cable clamp around the end of the shaft where it meets the diff, and hooking the loop of cable around a sledge hammer, and swinging away the truck (i do not have s slide hammer). If that doesnt work, im welding a shackle to the shaft, hooking it to my quad, dropping the clutch, and taking off.
If that doesnt work, im cutting the shaft off with a grinder and 6” wafer wheel, and then slicing it sideways in two halfs. Guess ill see how i feel in the morning. Haha.

Shaft is completely split in two halves, and still was rusted on. Beat on it with a chisel, and it FINALLY came off! If I wouldnt have cut it apart, it would have NEVER came off!

Well...damn haha

I Bleed Ram Trucks

I have never seen a CV shaft put up such a fight! Normally you just hook a ratchet strap to them if they are stuck, and you just rap on it a few times and they pop out. Even when i had it cut in two halves, it still didnt want to come off! Had to wail on it with a 4# mini sledge and a chisel! It was HOT DAMN crazy!

Nice job getting it off without damaging the shaft.

Thanks. I cut into the end of the spline shaft about a 3/32” but there is plenty of meat there it wont matter. I have heard of guys spending 3 days trying to remove a stuck CV axle...wasnt gonna be this guy! I’m like a surgeon with a grinder. Lol

Went ahead and added a new moog lower ball joint while I had it apart. With my luck, the lower ball joint would have went bad right after I got everything back together. Balljoint was $32. At advance autoparts with my 10% military discount.
