I just leased a 2018 Ram 1500 with the V6 and like it very much. My only concern is that it seems to take an awful long time to warm up. What is the normal time it takes to get warm enough to get heat?

Thanks,

Brian

After about 5 minutes of normal driving, longer if you just let it sit and idle. Interesting first question. ;)

I try to let everything run at least 5 minutes when its cold out. If you have time and remote start let it run until it reaches operating temp on the gauge. At the very least year round I let things run until it idles down to its lowest RPM.

Seem to me it always takes about 5 minutes longer than I want.

My 14 Caravan and the 15 Ram are the slowest vehicles to warm up that I have owned so far...BUT...With that being said...The Ram A/C will get the cab like the inside of an IGLOO in an extremely short time during the summer

I had a 2015 Jeep with the 3.6L and it warmed up pretty quick, about normal for a vehicle

What I find usual is that my 2018 Wrangler JL and my 2021 ram V6 have almost the same motor. Even just at idle the RAM takes twice as long to warm up. At first I thought it was just the fact the RAM has a bigger grill and more ventilation but then I realize even at idle the Jeep warms up in about 5 minutes whereas the RAM could stay cold for another 5 minutes even after sitting for idle for 5 minutes. It's really strange I can't figure it out. This winter I'm going to try covering up the grill partially if the temperatures are going to stay below 30 for a while and see if that helps. Another thing to keep in mind is that our Jeep is a soft top lol
