I stumbled on this and asked if it was true when i went to the Stealership today... They are scrapping the 5/100k to the 5/60k, which is extremely stupid, at least in the consumers eyes

Fiat Chrysler just announced that, beginning with the 2016 model year, its 5-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty will become a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty in the U.S. market,

Figured i let everyone know!!!

Diesels are left a 5/100k which is nice,

Im assuming everyone that bought cars and trucks in 5/100k are locked in.

Buying a diesel for an everyday truck, is like buying a prescription for a head ache, not worth a longer warranty to me... Been to deisel side, was cool, to expensive.

Then again i was rocking a ford 6.bl0w

they are going in the wrong direction. lowering your warranty is basically the same as saying you don't trust your product to last as long. i do have to wonder the reasons behind the change. are they getting more claims or expecting more? either would suggest something has changed and quality has suffered as a result. could just be nothing but it does make me worry what's in store for people buying 2016s

I agree, maybe there loosing to much money for cars in the 60001-10000k range and want to change it. 100k is a very good coverage and its why i went with ram. I was at chrysler today and was asking the finance guy, i guess its a fiat thing... But what does he know?

They should atleast do 5/75 like the 3rd gens

They're merely following Ford's lead. Wonder if GM will change from 5/100? Anyway it'll save FCM some much needed recall dough. Extended warranties are pretty reasonable online .......

I'm at three years and 35K. I'm gonna make 5 years long before 100K miles.

Im at 3/54 atm, the same will happen to me. My tranny is acting up so im thinking of "accidentally" slipping the truck in reverse driving down the street till it breaks...

I have brought it in 3 times and they keep saying grinding and whining is normal for 6 speed

The reason the warranty is changing is Fiat. They want to make money. They have not seen an Increase in warranty claims nor do they expect one. It is just the fact the they will be saving money if cars are out of warranty sooner.

and they can spike up the price of extended warranties, and probably see an increase in overall extended warranty business

In my option Ram is rebuilding still unreliable Chrysler name, they sure are building an army of rams out their. I love it, I have felt like ram has always been the underdog, and it is nice to see them make a dent in the truck market. I hope they dot "sell out" and make us pay.

I think it's ridiculous to decrease the warranty just because other companies are. I'm glad I got purchased the lifetime warranty. I plan on keeping this truck for at least 10 years. I kept my last vehicle for 8 years, but it was also already 8 years old when I bought it.

In late 2014 I bought the lifetime extended warranty with $100 deductible for $2300. If the price someone said earlier in the thread is true I'm glad I bought when I did. Truck prices are up a couple grand as well for the same equipped truck.

Warranties and their length have always been marketing tools.

Exactly, they are just bringing themselves in line with the competition. While in many ways that sucks, it doesn't surprise me.
