Well yesterday was a bad day, I found a nice 8 inch by 8 inch wet spot on my driver side carpet. Upon further inspection I determined it was not coming from the fire wall. I checked the back seat flooring and passenger side front seat flooring, all dry. So I removed some trim pieces, weather stripping, and uplifted the driver side carpet, ABSOLUTELY SOAKED! I cleaned what I could with a towel, and used my wifes hair dryer for an hour to dry the carpet. I noticed a small hole in the welding from the cab to the fender, very tiny and easy to miss, this aroused my suspicions. I poured a large amount of water on my windshield and low and behold that small hole began to drip. Makes sense for the amount of water I found, I've had the truck since November 11th, and it rains in Virginia quite often so the small drips added up over time. I cleaned the area real well and applied some clear silicone into the small hole, I then used gorilla tape to cover the spot and add an additional seal (tacky I know). I reinstalled everything and the silicone and tape can't be seen (thank God). So far so good, I have an appointment with the dealer on Monday so I can atleast have this incident logged for future reference. If I were you guys & girls I would check your driver side carpeting for dampness. I'll include pictures of the hole for your reference. I'd also like to mention that I DO NOT have the sunroof (I heard those are leaking like crazy).20200116_013146.jpg 20200116_013204.jpg20200116_013220.jpg

I had a similar issue with my Grand Cherokee, which I finally realized was from a small failure in the windshield sealant. Water wicked under the edge, then ran down the A pillar and soaked the footwell.

The solution for mine was removal and reinstallation of the windshield. Glass experts all told me re-sealing it in place was no bueno.

Also check the door seal on the bottom of the door - if it gets stuck to the door and creates a seal it will let water build up in the door and come in.

UPDATE:

Got the truck back from the dealer, they had a "water specialist" come in and take a look at it, he found 3 areas where it was leaking into the driver side cabin. One was the pinch weld in my post and the other 2 were where the fender meets the firewall. He patched them up with paint matched epoxy weld and it looks great. Dealership shampoo'd and detailed my carpets so no more water stains. I'm a happy camper now.

I read on another RAM forum that this was an issue with some of the new 2019 DT Models. I was originally going to purchase a 2019 Rebel until I checked the drivers side carpet before a test drive and it was damp and wet underneath. There is a TSB for this type of leak.

Very interesting! I will have to show this to my dealership so they are aware. They told me that I was the first customer with a leaking truck that didn't have a sunroof. I smell BS on that one...

Well, it rained this morning and I went outside to find water pooled up on the driver side foot well again. Called the dealer again and they are going to get me in on Monday. Also found how they "sealed" the cowl.... duct tape.

I read here that they are fixing it by removing the duct tape or seal tape and masking the area off and spraying some kind of sealant letting it dry and painting it with the body paint color, there is a service bulletin out for body to cowling seal. I'll look for the number

Go to page 1 in this thread it has the info for what's done.
Yup, yup, truck is at the dealer right now, they have the water specialist looking at it again, they don't want to jump straight to the removal of the fender (even though I'm 99% sure that's the issue). The water specialist called me about an hour ago and said the carpet was bone dry. Well no ****, it hasn't rained since Saturday and I cleaned it immediately to avoid mildew smell! Anyway, I sent him pictures that I took. We'll see what happens.

Well I got my truck back after 2 weeks. They removed the fender and applied some type of epoxy over the weld edges. They then water tested it and said it was no longer leaking. The rain we received today determined that was a lie. Went outside and immediately spotted the water dripping into the cab, not nearly as much as it used to but it's still leaking from somewhere. I took the truck back to the dealership today and the service manager was speechless. He's about done with this truck and so am I. He ended up taking it again and is letting it sit out in the rain all night so they can attempt to pinpoint where it's leaking, he is also going to go back behind the fender and apply more epoxy/sealant. This is the 3rd time now and Virginia Lemon Laws allow me to request a refund/buyback from FCA. Not sure if I want to go through with it though because I love the truck, just has that damn water leak.

Interesting to see if they get it solved. My truck sat all week backed in to my parking spot at the end of my driveway, which slopes down towards the left (so driver side), and we had torrential rain all week. Sat morning I hit remote start (20 degrees) and got some tools together while I waited for the windshield to defrost. When I got in I noticed there was frost on the inside, and some frost icicles on the side of the dash. So I picked up the drivers mat and it was damp underneath - not soaked, but wet enough that I could feel it was wet and obviously enough humidity in the truck to frost the inside.

So I pulled the rubber mat and put the heat on full blast, AC mode to dehumidify the cabin. By the time I got to Lowe's it was pretty dry.

Still, that water came from somewhere. I didn't drive the truck all week so it couldn't have been from splashing on the firewall. I'll have to check the pinch weld and see if anything is obvious.
