I thought this install might be of interest to other guys that spend a lot of time on gravel. We all put Mud Flaps on the front and rear to try and reduce flung mud and rocks, but that doesn't stop stuff from getting flung forward by the rear wheels, particularly rocks, that like to chip up the lower panels and doors. For years I have mounted a set of flaps on the front side of the rear well to cut this down.

I put Weathertec no drills on this one front and back and they were a great fit.
When I got looking at the rear flaps I got the idea that I could easily reverse Left and Right and have a no drill mount for the front of the well too. In the end it worked out well, but I did have to drill another hole in the mudflap itself to get it to line up with the bolts that hold the factory flares on. I also ended up having to trim the guards because they hung down a little too far when mounted on the front. While I was at it, I took all the bolts that hold the flares on out, covered them in black RTV Waterproof Silicone and reinstalled them to ensure there was no bare metal anywhere. It was pretty easy so I may do that on the front now as well.

Front and Rear Flap mounted, after front flap trimmed.

This is the rear wheel, rear of wheel well flap. I think the fit is a close to perfect as you can ask for.

Well that's new. Thanks for sharing. I guess I haven't ever noticed a problem with stuff getting flung forward. on my normal commute. All of the paint damage I see is from rocks getting flung to the rear. Glad it seems to be working for you. Seems like it would look a little wonky though. Do you have a pic of the whole truck with these installed?

I will take a picture and post it of the new truck with this set up but it isn't handy. This is a picture of my 1996 Ram 2500 V10. It actually has triple flaps on the rear since new because I pulled a fiberglass boat a lot with it. I actually think it looks just fine and given that is the original paint at 160,000 miles, most of it off pavement, it definitely kept the rocks from chipping the finish..

I will say it's not as noticeable with the wheel to wheel running boards. Thanks for posting.

Truck is getting close to being ready to take on gravel. Yesterday I had 24" Paint Protection Film put on the hood, and had film put on the Rocker panels from front to rear bumper, from the bottom all the way up the door to the crease just below the Ram Logo, as well as the door sills on all four doors. That should help a bunch with the rocks and boot scuffs. I am going to add a two inch Black and Chrome body Side molding along the top of that crease to break up the monotone Red and to provide protection from door dings. Sort of a retro to my 1996, which is what the replacement molding is intended for.

Never did locate back of cab to wheel arches so bought a two step, 24" high, ladder that only weighs 5 Lbs and has a 300 LB capacity. Will carry that in the back of the truck as a milk crate just wasn't quite tall enough. Would have preferred steps on both sides, but so far have not found one. Will replace this if I do.

Next step is to have the Rust Proofing applied next week, basically an oily, waxy coating that protects the truck from salt etc. Never been a fan of of the thick spray on tar like undercoating after having a couple of cars that I bought undercoated and found significant rust trapped under the coating. It seems to crack or lift slightly and allow water and salt to get under it and you can't wash it off.

First hunting trip is the 24th of the month. Be very interested to see how the new rig works.

Not something I would install, but I agree tires can throw stuff forward. I have another vehicle with 35” tires that protrude beyond the wheel wells and it will toss gravel and mud on the hood, and sometimes I’ve seen gravel pitched out ahead of me as I’m driving.

I said I would post a picture so you can see what the mudflaps on the front of the rear well looks like so here are a couple. It doesn't look like it because of the camera angle but the front flaps are the same length and hang down the same amount on both sides.

Power Boards are in the Deployed mode.

There have been lots of threads about mudflaps and protection so thought I would bump this for those that are interested.

It is a Range Rider Vista model. Don't know about gas mileage, the canopy went on first thing. I know I have hit as high as 21 mpg on the highway. Lifetime avaega after 7000 miles is 15.7 mpg, hand calculated.
