Hi everyone,

I’ve been hearing a strange noise coming from my car, and I’m hoping someone can help. The noise happens when the car is idling and gets louder if I press the gas pedal moderately. It occurs regardless of whether the car is cold or warmed up.

No DTC trouble code

I’ve uploaded two videos to YouTube so you can hear the sound clearly:

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Can you isolate if it is coming from transmission area or top end? I'd get a stethoscope and see were you can feel vibration.

I counted about 70 ticks in 15 seconds. That's 280 ticks per minute, or pretty much half of your engine RPM.

The valve train rotates at exacly half the speed of the crankshaft. I hope I'm wrong, but it sounds to me like a lifter is eating your cam.

It may be worth pulling the valve covers and checking the range of motion of your rocker arms.

Hemi tick. Tick, tick, tick, tick. Increases frequency with RPM. That is a failed lifter.
